Mink has referred to police officers as "thugs" and "goons" on her social media. That makes her MORE outspoken against police than even Jawando. I don't see how she can separate herself from him.
mink also is an anti Israel zealot

I suspect Mink and Jawando know this bill won't pass but need to do the performative action to point their supporters to how they "fought for progress" so they can win their next election cycle.

mink just took office so how could this help her in 4 years? I think it could pass a 100% democrat council

DP.
I think there are enough people on the council who are able to see the problems with this bill. I’m pretty confident it will fail.

I dont think this one had the votes even normally, but especially now with crime and particularly vehicle crime up.

but they are all progressives and this is what other progressives are doing. One day the criminal element and enablers will outnumber people who pay property tax here

I think that it’s important to note that you shouldn’t confuse Mink and the things she says with things being supported by Democrats, in general. It’s as bad as confusing the nuttiest thoughts of random Trump supporters with the ideals of all Republicans. She’s doesn’t represent Democrats, she represents a small subset of us. Most of us are a little more pragmatic…these are issues that we can with on/against together.

Defund the MoCo council and shut these clowns down. Kiss your home values goodbye. The baltimorification of MoCo is in full swing - death of jobs, fleeing businesses, crushing tax increases, and skyrocketing crime.

According to Adam Pugnucco- they offered the bill up to the rest of the council and couldnt get anyone else to sign on as co-sponsors. That makes me think its DOA.

I think a majority of moco voters are reliable democrats who rarely if ever cross the aisle (see Larry Hogan), but are way to the right on the spectrum of people like Mink.

Probably something in the neighborhood of A Friedsen or Katz or the like.

DUI is a pretextual stop.

Stopping a car that smells like cannabis is pretextual stop. And it's one that almost always results in illegal gun confiscation.

A sheriff arrested Timothy McVeigh an hour or so after the Oklahoma City bombing because of a pretextual stop. McVeigh's car didn't have a license plate.

They can be abused.
But they can also be a great tool for keeping the community safe.
It's stupid to ban them outright.

Can you provide data to back this up? I'd be willing to venture that smelling cannabis is on its way to becoming a meaningless pretextual stop given the medical cannabis availability and the soon to be recreational availability. MoCo might still have more dispensaries than any other county in the state. The vast majority of these people are not folks with illegal guns.

Whether cannabis is legal in the state or not almost doesnt matter. If you smell alcohol from a car- it implies that the driver could be inebriated. Same thing with weed.

Do you think the people in her actual neighborhood of Woodmoor (heavily St Bernadettes people) are in to all of her far leftist positions? I doubt it. I bet most of them didnt even know her stances.
