| Good Luck to everyone! Fingers crossed |
Very true. VT offers tons of other majors. |
Is this what it is like being an admissions officer? |
Which side is 1st Gen? |
On this page you can see the distribution of majors that graduated in 2020. Engineering/CS definitely not a majority. Business is about as big as engineering. Largest majors - Management science, Mechanical engineering, CS, Finance, Psychology. https://datausa.io/profile/university/virgini...te-university#majors |

My daughter got in with a 4.4 weighted GPA and a 1430 SAT!
On a separate note, what does dd mean? |
|
My son got in!
The admission letter states "With more than 47,000 applications for 7,085 seats in our first-year class.." Does this mean the admission rate is only 15.07% |
| Yay! My OOS DD got in! DH and I are alumni. So sad it won't be a financially smart decision to send her there, so she will likely be a Terp.Congrats to all of the new Hokies! |
Oh, if the yield is factored in, the admission rate is much higher than 15% |
No. They accept many more students than they have seats available. Not every student offered a spot accepts it. |
| DS rejected despite good stats. DH and I are both alumni. Bummed. |
| My daughter is in - Neuroscience! 4.42 w, 2% of class at a large high school, test optional, strong ECs and volunteering. |
Oh boy. No that is not what it means you need the total number of acceptances not seats. VA Tech does not typically have a high yield, though they are trying to change that which is why you see a lot of waitlisting of high stats.
|
| DD waitlisted. Her GPA is 3.4 so I'm honestly thrilled she made the waitlist. Like others, I wonder how much movement actually happens on the list? |
| Are they mentioning honors college in their letter? |
