Am I the oldest menstruating female on the planet?

I am the one whose grandma had twins at 52. I have cystic acne still around my period like a teenager. My periods cause migraines. I have a heart arrhythmia. I don’t feel lucky. Also, I got my period at 6 weeks after birth like clockwork despite EBF. Nothing feels impressive about this burden. Wish my OB would just do a hysterectomy already.

I’m sorry it’s mostly a burden for you! I get it. But on average, it’s much better for a woman to go through menopause late than early

It's a trade-off actually. There are some health benefits to late menopause, and the skin/hair/weight thing is real. But late menopause also increases your risk for breast and ovarian cancer. Might not be a huge risk, but compared to someone who went through menopause early, who has on average a lowered risk, it's definitely an increase. So I guess there are trade-offs in either direction.

My mom went through menopause at 58 and I didn’t get my period until I was 15. I think I’ll be feeling the same way as you one day OP.

No sign of cycles slowing down.
Aunt Flo just keeps returning.
It doesn’t seem fair!
I started on the late side.. age 15… but not unusually so.
My mother had menopause early, in her late 30s actually, so I thought that might be my pattern too.
At 45 I thought about buying a Diva cup but figured why waste the money?
I didn’t know a ten year investment would have been worth it.

Just PMS venting…

I’m about to be 56 (Nov). I am right there with you. Started late 15, regular like clockwork in BCP now to make lighter.

For those of you super menstruators - do you still have the hormonal/PMS symptoms?

No I actually feel super calm which I like.

Do women who have had bio babies typically menstrate longer? Or you mean you just didn't need to be fertile afterall.

The latter.

I'm 48 and its hit or miss. I go months without it, may get one or two than who knows...

I'm 54 and still get a period every 2-3 months. I feel great, though, except the periods are heavier than they used to be.

I'm 52 and finally starting to skip some. I still get hellish pms though.

I’m 46. Experienced years of infertility. For the last several years o have been having cycles that last 24-26 days. I just hit 29 days. Can I assume menopause or do I need to find myself a pregnancy test?

What I would normally consider pms’y. Headaches. Tearful. Etc.

You might be! I am 51 and had no period for five months and then full force two weeks ago. I had hot flashes, and I started taking Black Cohosh and felt like a human again after some three weeks of it. I think it caused my period to come back.
But I gained weight since taking it, but who knows if it is the Black Cohosh contributing to the weight gain.

Ugh, this thread is stressing me out. I am "only" 53 and still very regular. I keep thinking I must be almost at the finish line, but maybe not.

If you're still menstruating in your mid to late fifties and sexually active, are you using BC? If so, what are you using at this point?
