Teacher, but pet sitting during the summer. Damn, some of you have really dirty homes

Anonymous
You know those posts about "how often do you wash your sheets, vacuum, mop, etc?"

I like to think those "once a month or less" people are trolls, but sadly they're real. Some people are just really gross. Not because they're poor, but because they're voluntarily filthy. (if you can afford a pet sitter or to travel, you can certainly afford someone to clean your home). If you're having someone to come to your home... how can you not be embarrassed to see you living like Pigpen?? Messiness is one thing and dirtiness is another.

The DCUM claws are out! Seriously, OP, I get it. If I drop by unexpectedly, I m un-phased by your messiness, but when scheduled or invited, I do wonder if people don’t see their grossness.

I can't believe how triggered some people are by their filthiness. If you're that bothered by a stranger on the internet pointing it out, maybe do something about it?

I do home based therapy so I have been in and out of a lot of homes. There are definitely some pretty messy homes out there!!

Messy isn't a big deal. I think a lot of people think they have "messy" homes when in reality, they have dirty homes.

While I agree with this entirely, I think the one who has her claws out is OP. Apparently her employers’ money is good enough for her to take, but they and their homes are trash? They probably don’t even need to use her vs. using a neighbor or the kid down the street as usual, they just feel bad that she’s begging for summer work.

For a pet sitter I would at minimum:

• Empty all garbage 🗑 cans in the home

• Make sure there are no dirty dishes in the sink

• Have all floors + counters swept and wiped

• Ensure the bathroom is not only spic & span > but has clean towels too

• Make sure the bedroom has clean sheets/linens

• Have excessive pet hair vacuumed up.

• Have a clean litter box (cat) or if dog, make sure backyard/patio are picked up

Thank you for providing an emoji as a visual aid to help us understand what a garbage can is.

Lol. Yes, so much filthier than the wet markets, slums, or housing without running water that half the world lives or works in.

Pp is right, Americans are pretty unkempt. People in slums tend to take care of their spaces and whatever little they have. However poor they may be, they’re not lazy. Unlike many in their Mcmansions. As Countess Luann says… money can’t but you class 😄

NP. Criticizing people who are so poor that they live in slums without running water is punching down, and not at all akin to mild critiques of wealthy DMVers who have unclean homes. Let's not go there; it's a seriously bad look.

Oh shut it OP, no one needs judgement from the hired help. If you’re so much better, why do you need a second job? Ps my home is clean I just think this post is ridiculous.

+1. Americans have access to running water and all the cleaning supplies in the world and still can't clean or keep themselves clean. Like pigs. I avoid using the restroom at work after lunch, when all these people poop after their disgusting lunches and can't even properly clean themselves because of their size.

Most of the people in the poor countries are thin. Americans are very overweight and there's a special odor from the fat rolls and sweat due to fat.

I own my condo 100% outright, but thanks AND I don't need to live in filth.

I don't need the money - I have a few side hustles in the off season, and taking care of pets is easy pay. Why not? But look, I've had pet sitters before - how hard is it to tidy up? A little messiness is one thing, but some of you should be ashamed. Clean your damn homes. If your homes are so expensive, surely you can afford someone to do it for you?

Oooohhhhhh, a *condo*! Do you mean like the one I owned when I was 26? Aww, cute! That’s a cute look for you.

At least I own what I can take care of, and not beyond my means. Whatever home you have, do you not take pride in it? If you do, my god man keep it clean.

Oh honey, I do. But I find it so adorable that you have to scrounge together pet-sitting jobs and then take jabs at people whose houses are bigger and nicer than yours. Keep cleaning your shoebox and dog-sitting! It’s too precious. Look at you with a summer job you complain about…just like a 16yo!

The condescending "honey" poster! 😂

A lot of posters here who clearly are defensive because they don't clean their own homes.
