Looking for: in or near a city, mid-sized, preferably not in the Midwest.
3.9 UW GPA at private school, moderately rigorous courses, 32 ACT (may apply TO)
No hooks

Possible candidates: Northeastern, U of Miami, Villanova, BU, BC, Wake Forest, Lehigh, LMU, USC, Santa Clara

Any feedback or other ideas?

NU engineering is super tough to get into - always has been, just be forewarned, OP.

Northwestern (NU) is not Northeastern (NEU). Their marketing is confusing.

NU

Use only in the following contexts: social media icons, student groups, and informal correspondence. Never use NEU, which is an outdated abbreviation.

What about Bucknell? It's rural, I know, but it has a great alumni network and jobs pipeline after graduation.

Villanova is a reach bc of low acceptance rate
How about large flagships like University of Maryland?
Some of the SUNY schools,

There are a few schools using the same NU colloquial names
National University (owns www.nu.edu)
Norwich University
Northeastern University
Northwestern University
Niagara University
etc.

There are other cases too such as BU, OU, etc.
If one school claimes sole ownership of the colloquial name, that would be rude and arrogant.

This may be an ignorant question, but... does being a female applicant offer any advantage in admissions?

Look into the 3+2 engineering programs. That's what I did. 3 years at SUNY and 2 years at Columbia SEAS
