Undergrad engineering suggestions

Anonymous
Looking for college suggestions for DD. She is a rising senior interested in engineering (but could change her mind and also likes the liberal arts).

Looking for: in or near a city, mid-sized, preferably not in the Midwest.
3.9 UW GPA at private school, moderately rigorous courses, 32 ACT (may apply TO)
No hooks

Possible candidates: Northeastern, U of Miami, Villanova, BU, BC, Wake Forest, Lehigh, LMU, USC, Santa Clara

Any feedback or other ideas?

Look at U of Rochester, if 6500 isn't too small. Both great engineering and liberal arts

Rice is probably a reach, but, hey, you never know.

NU engineering is super tough to get into - always has been, just be forewarned, OP.

She just doesn't want it - think it's too cold, too boring.

Good to know. Is it better to apply undecided and then switch into engineering? Would ED help if she really likes it?

For each school ask a lot of questions about the ability to switch majors. Some make it look possible on the web site, but when you dig into it, it is not realistic.

Remove BC and Wake Forest.
Great schools but just not for Engineering.

USC > Northeastern > BU > Lehigh = Villanova > Miami > LMU = Santa Clara

Smith College has an engineering program.

USC > Northeastern > BU > Lehigh = Villanova > Miami > LMU = Santa Clara

USC = Reach
Northeasern/BU = Reach Match
Lehigh/Villanova = Match
Miami = Match safety
LMU/Santa Clara = Saftey

You need to add more schools.

Good idea but I don't think she would go for a women's college
