There are a few schools using the same NU colloquial names
National University (owns www.nu.edu)
Norwich University
Northeastern University
Northwestern University
Niagara University 
etc.

There are other cases too such as BU, OU, etc.
If one school claimes sole ownership of the colloquial name, that would be rude and arrogant.
