True! I just hate throwing out good food. |
This is PP and that’s exactly why I asked. We’ve tried before and hated having to basically hand-churn it to get it somewhat palatable. I don’t want to have to work for a PB& J! |
Yeah, same. I'm reasonably nutrition-conscious, but just couldn't make myself like the stuff. |
| I went googling regarding the comment about JIF containing trans fats. And apparently, it doesn't. Phew. |
| Peanut butter snobs are worse than beer snobs. |
It's not being a snob. It's something real food (just ground peanuts, maybe with some salt) instead of peanuts mixed with hydrogenated oils. |
Proving my point.
|
The trick is to store it upside down. Then the oil is on the bottom and it mixes better (but after mixing once, store it upside down and you don’t have to again usually). That said, I don’t eat very much peanut butter, and my son will only eat JIF. I returned our recalled jar today and there wasn’t any jif on the shelf. |
Blah. Blah. Jif is delicious. Skippy will have to do for now. I am not eating your coffee grounds nasty all natural PB. Give it a break. |
My husband got salmonella from bagged pistachios a few years back. I researched it in that case. Pistachios take an enormous amount of water to grow (there are pistachio water wars in California). If the salmonella is in the water, the product may get it. In the case of Jif, here's what the company is saying "ConAgra officials blamed moisture from a leaky roof and a malfunctioning sprinkler system for helping salmonella bacteria grow on raw peanuts." I still think if it's in the water when they grow or cook the peanut butter, you can get it that way. |
I went to Harris Teeter yesterday (5/23) and they were no longer on the shelves. |
+1 same. We have about 5-6 jars stockpiled. |
Wow. That's crazy! Thank you so much for posting about it!!! I would not have ever guessed that. I learn so much on DCUM! |
| Jiff is the worst! |
There's no trans fat in Jif. Try again. |
