Jif recall - salmonella

If you have Jif peanut butter at home take a look to see if it's one of the lots that have just been recalled.

We’re already three quarters through two jars included in the recall.

Crap balls.

We have a jar that's pretty much empty.

DS has complained of nausea several times after eating his nightly spoonful of PB. He's my PB lover and literally eats a big spoonful each evening. I told him he needed to eat smaller portions but maybe this is why.

Wait, can I get my money back?

The website says to throw it away and for stores to discard.

Ah crap. We just opened this big ole jar from Costco a few days ago. Fed it to DD and the dog. Luckily no one got sick.

JIF is trans fat loaded poison anyway.

I would like to know this two -- I just bought a mamoth double pack at Costco but I also had another double pack in pantry, someone smaller jars, all 4 of them are part of the recall. That's a lot of $$ to toss out.

Costco would let you return those -- even opened and even without the recall.

Thank you! Just checked and we have two massive jars included in the recall. We are all horrified that the only safe PB in the house is DH’s non-JIF… crunchy. The horror…

What about Safeway - can we just bring things back even without a receipt?

Ours has a lower lot number than the recall, but not sure how I feel about it now.

I'm the same with one jar. I'm terrified of getting salmonella. I had it once before many years ago and it was just awful.

Now I'm older and immunocompromised.

The fact that peanut butter can be a salmonella carrier surprised the heck out of me. You should see how some of my kids eat their peanut butter out of the communal jar and I have never said anything. I truly thought it was pretty insusceptible to anything. How wrong I am! Yikes!

The key is the first seven digits - if they end in 425 (the code for the Lexington, KY plant), throw out the PB.

All the jug we’ve bought from the Harris Teeter on Harrison over the last 2 months was part of the recall. 🤮
