Oh PP again- actually Global has to be higher than 90- I can remember what they said. I do remember 85 though for Humanities.

One of our friend's kid just got into both RM and Blair. 300 on MAP-M, 268 on MAP-R.

Another data point: Blair STEM, MAP-M 293, MAP-R 248.

I assume was not accepted at RMIB?

That kid didn't apply RMIB. The parents said (or heard rumors) that RMIB got watered down and lost a couple of good teachers in recent years.

MAP-R 248 might be a bit low for IB?

That's fantastic! My DD took one look at the portfolio and other requirements and said no how no way.

The point of the IB is that there is no difference. Possibly some schools offer more HL choices than others, or different SL electives but that's also subject to interest. The core programs are the same.

I am really surprised on the MAP-R score of 248 getting into magnet. I know there are several 5th graders who score around 250 +/- 5 now a days. Is this a different MAP R?

If you like the look of nice new building and do not care about academic performance, yes why not?

Our friend's kid goes there out of boundary for one of their programs (IT or Cyber). Kid and parents seem to like it. MCPS provides bus service to and from their home high school as well.

PP said DC got into Blair with MAP-M 293, MAP-R 248. It makes sense that they look at MAP-M more because of the math/science curriculum. DC could also be in-boundary.

So how do you know if kid is progressively moving higher if tests are different? Are you making this up?
