Mine got into Blair STEM (his top choice) and RMIB, as well as Wheaton engineering and a slew of others. He was waitpooled at CAP and Wheaton biomed. He's currently at the TPMS magnet.
He's 99% sure he's picking Blair STEM over RMIB, but wants to wait until tomorrow to talk with his friends before he pushes the button. |
What I meant was, if you want to accept the invitation, you click on a link. That link makes you enter an email address and select which program the child is accepting the invitation for. In that form, do you enter the child’s email address or the parent’s? |
I don’t know for sure, but I would think you enter your own email address since the invitation was through your ParentVUE account and not your student’s account. |
| Make sure you talk to your child about their home HS. When these applications were due, the kids had little exposure, but since then they may have learned a lot more because of 9th Grade class registration. |

From what I understand, a handful of programs are lottery based, but others are still criteria based.
Lottery: Healthcare Professions - Biosciences Academy at Wheaton/Edison HS (Lottery) Hospitality and Tourism Management - Global Studies Academy at Wheaton/Edison HS (Lottery) Information Technology & Cybersecurity - Academy of Information Technology at Wheaton/Edison HS (Lottery) Construction Management and Engineering - Academy of Engineering at Wheaton/Edison HS (Lottery) Middle College @Montgomery College (MC2) Program at Northwood HS (Lottery) Aviation and Aerospace at Magruder HS (Lottery) Criteria Based: Global Ecology at Poolesville HS Regional International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at Kennedy HS Countywide International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at Richard Montgomery HS Science•Math•Computer Science Program at Blair HS Visual Art Center at Albert Einstein HS |
| So how likely is it that a wait pool spot will lead to an invitation at one of the Poolesville programs? |
|
In at the Visual Arts magnet! hooray
|
Kid got invited to all three programs at Poolesville and they will likely choose SMaCS. That will free up a spot in Global Ecology and Humanities. |
| Please share the map scores, thank you. |
One of our friend's kid just got into both RM and Blair. 300 on MAP-M, 268 on MAP-R. |
Highly likely. Poolesville moves quickly! |
Another data point: Blair STEM, MAP-M 293, MAP-R 248. |
I assume was not accepted at RMIB? |
| What is the difference between the three IB programs in Montco? |
Poolesville knows kids can’t accept 3 spots so they over accept. If I recall they offer 85 seats to Global and Humanities and a lesser number to SMCs. SMCs kids generally accept. My kid was WL last year. |
