HS magnet results -- actual results 2 1 22

Anyone want to share? My 8th grader got into RMIB and is in the wait pool at Blair CAP, which is kind of surprising to me because I'd have thought CAP would be the easier lift. Not sure at this point whether they will take the RMIB seat or go to the home HS.

Is your kid from eastern?

Congrats!

Mine applied to two programs at Poolesville and was invited to both. Most of dc’s friends also got into programs there, so I’m pretty sure dc isn’t going to attend home high school.

My Eastern kid got into the regional IB and was not invited to CAP; didn’t apply anywhere else. Kind of relieved because we are pretty sick of the magnet commute and weren’t sure that they would go to CAP if admitted, so in some ways it’s nice not to have to make the decision (although of course it never feels good to be rejected, as my kid said). May turn down the regional IB too in favor of the home school for more flexibility in scheduling, but we will spend some time considering it.

For the acceptance, do you list the parental email account or the child's email account?

We got our results in ParentView. We( both parents and DD) still have not received an email.

Our son got an invitation for Blair but not selected for IB program. "Invited" means accepted, right? Or there is one more acceptance process for those who were invited?

Aren't decisions based on more than just MAP scores?

They are, although the criteria aren't as expansive as they used to be (no CoGAT, no teacher recommendations):

The admission process for criteria-based programs uses a multiple measures approach that includes both district-level and externally-developed assessment of students. The data that will be considered includes the student applicant responses, Grade 8 and Grade 7 report cards, student services^, and an external assessment (MAP M and MAP R).

So for what it's worth, kid admitted to RMIB: Fall 2021 MAP-M RIT 262, percentile 97 (bolded); MAP-R RIT 262, percentile (bolded) 99.
