That’s why it should be between a woman and her health care provider.

Aborting babies with downs = eugenics; be careful what you’re actually promoting.

I’m very comfortable with what I’m promoting, thanks.
Also apologies for giving the right wing nut jobs in the Va state legislature
The benefit of the doubt that they had written in exceptions for rape and incest.
My bad.

It means a lot that you’re admitting you made an error, seriously. Thank you.

Are you going to be the one caring for such a child? No? Then not your business or your mental anguish to deal with for the rest of your life.

Well if I had one then yes. But I’m permanently physically disabled from birth. In today’s world, mothers who find out they are carrying my disease are actively encouraged to abort. I live a very fulfilling life today. I’m married, with children, have graduate degrees, employed, have great friends, volunteer in my community. I am pro-choice.

However, promoting the ability to abort your downs baby is horrible and eugenic. And if you’re not familiar with the eugenic movement and how it is still widely acceptable in 2022 to treat the disabled as having less than lives, rationing their care, considering them a burden, promoting their removal from society then SHAME ON YOU! You’re disgusting!

I’m glad some posters are so ok with eugenics. I think every woman should have a choice but I don’t think we should be celebrating the eugenic movement of aborting babies with any perceived disability. This is a dangerous road to go down.

Thanks for reminding me how cr@pay the world still views me. As if I needed a reminder but thanks anyway.

No one is “encouraging” anyone to abort. Doctors sharing facts and options is not “encouraging.”

There is no eugenics movement. I actually had several family members sterilized in the US’s eugenics phase. Don’t be flippant about what was taken from my family members.

I agree with people with disabilities having greater visibility, access and rights and women deserve to make their own reproductive decisions. That’s why I support the Democratic Party.

When I was born the state tried twice to remove me from my parents and gave me placed in an institution. When my parents refused both times the state then pushed to have me sterilized as the “right thing to do. This was 1974.

Don’t lecture me on what eugenics is. The eugenics movement and ableism is far more than the state forcing sterilizations and your statements show a real lack of knowledge which is so. dangerous. Educate yourself. Here is the simple wiki definition: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenics

What percentage of rape victims wait until after 20 weeks to get an abortion?

What percentage of rape victims are being controlled and abused daily by their rapist?
What percentage of rape victims can’t easily access an abortion due to circumstance, like not having a car?
What percentage of rape victims are traumatized and frozen in denial about their situation?

Exactly none of them. It’s a strawman argument. And a pathetic one at that.

But I’m sure you wished you were aborted instead, right?

(PP, you are 100% right about the evils of eugenics. What you and others endured at the hands of the state is chilling. My aunt was a victim of the CVTC in the 60’s)

Your experience, your choice. Let others make the choices they are comfortable with. Seriously, this is the wrong battle.

Polls among Americans do show broad support for restrictions on abortion more than allowed under Roe versus Wade

Google it.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/1576/abortion.aspx

Enough to show that there is a majority for some restriction on abortion.

And yet if you present specific cases of why a woman wants or needs an abortion after a certain week—always tragic, doomed pregnancies— you’ll find most Americans think she should have access to it n

Ah, you’re one of those ghouls who hates women and knows nothing about pregnancy! Google “late term abortion stories,” read a few and get back to us all.

Every late abortion is a wanted pregnancy. This law is a nightmare.

There are three dead infants by Dr Gosnell at his late term abortion chop shop that would disagree with this statement.

Not sure the percentage but I do recall that case in Argentina of a 11 year old who tried to get one after 19 weeks but was denied and then doctors had to cut her open to remove a 23 week old baby that died.

Look into why those pregnancies were terminated. Those were people who had already painted rooms, picked names and were totally devastated with the choices they had to make. Why is the right politicizing these tragic situations?

Your dripping condescension isn’t helping anyone want to listen to you.

I read your Wikipedia. So… it’s just some editor’s opinion that offering prenatal testing is a form of eugenics? Hard disagree. Allowing women to make their own reproductive decisions is not eugenics. The state making forced birther laws is far worse than allowing women to decide what they can handle.

He no longer practices.

If you’re saying that no women should have access to an abortion at 20+ weeks because of his case then you open up the doors to similar arguments like that one one should be allowed to own guns because of all the gun deaths in this country.

Why does it have to be a certain percentage? Isn't it enough that it happens?

I'm an attorney and years ago I was involved in a case where the stepfather was molesting his 15-year-old stepdaughter. Mother didn't know until she took stepdaughter in for a medical exam and that weight gain she'd wondered about was a second trimester pregnancy. If that girl didn't want to bear her mother's husband's child, shouldn't she have that choice?
