Good work, OP. When do you take your walk? |
I'm 40 and 5'9" and 220. At my best around 15 years ago I was in the 160s. Not trying to get to that point but 180s would be nice. I had lost 30 pounds last year after gaining during the early days of the pandemic. I let that slip over the fall and holidays and gained around 10 back. Now I'm trying to refocus. I'm trying not to beat myself up over my gain and just remind myself that it could have been worse and I could still be gaining instead of getting back to loosing. I'm doing Weight Watchers. I've done it before and it works (if you actually follow it). I also have a Peloton bike and ride around 4 times a week but that my main activity. Working from home means I get very little natural activity so I would like to improve that if the weather cooperates. |
Walking takes so much time! I prefer the gym but they require masks and — I just can’t even.
How long does it take you to walk 4 miles? I admit I have also been walking a LOT but I find it so boring. Over the past 2 years I have listened to sooo many books and podcasts. Right now listening to the new The Dawn Of Everything. It’s 24 hrs long! I have gotten to the point that I can only do audio books now - and I love it b/c multitasking of course. Thank you for being here- |
Wow this makes me think I need to gain weight. I’m 5’10” and about 125. I work out daily and don’t really monitor much of what I eat except I tend to be a grazer. I had a baby within the last year and am still nursing her so I think that’s helped me shed the pregnancy weight but at delivery I was about 158. |
OP here. I usually walk two miles in the morning with my dog (35-40 minutes, depending on how much she’s sniffing) and another two miles running errands on my lunch break/after work. I listen to audiobooks but not on my walks; I don’t want to be mugged or hit by a car. ![]() |
I heard that under 50 calories still qualifies as intermittent fasting-- coffee with milk is ok. I keep vast quantities of clementines handy. and little apples. |
Why would you post this in a tread about weight loss? |
Thank you for starting this thread and for everybody who’s contributed. I’m 5’10” and somewhere over 150 but honestly not sure the exact number because I don’t own a scale right now. Kids broke one over the summer. Before kids I was 135 and realize I will never get back to that. I’m struggling right now for the first time in my life. I’ll be 40 this spring and can feel my metabolism is now sluggish. I spent almost my entire 30’s pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding. Breastfeeding was the best most easy way for me to burn calories. My goal right now is to lose weight and gain muscle. Everything is a little jiggly and there’s just too much of me. Also I have no good pants that fit comfortably. |
I'm 5'11" and weighing in at 178 lbs after starting a January weight loss program.l have gone back to a plant-based diet after introducing meat into my diet a year ago and also studying patisserie. ![]() 150 is the goal. Got big problem with bloating. I am 45 yo. Hoping plant diet will help. IF sounds interesting. I used to run, but now carrying too much weight and hurts knees and ankles so been walking. Can't get any jeans to look good just now but Lee used to be my go-to. Good luck everyone |
5'9 and 165 here. 47. Long torso, athletic frame.
In Jan 2021 I was shocked SHOCKED to weigh in at 198, which I had seen once before - at 9 months pregnant. I did IF (consuming calories between noon and 7 pm roughly) and cut out alcohol and pounds fell off pretty quickly. Feeling confident, I began having alcohol again once a week or so. By June 2021 I was 160. I felt pretty good. Since then I basically plateaued and fell back into habits 145 is my goal. I know what I gotta do (back to IF and no alcohol). It has been hard to do with all the fall/winter events and etc. Ready to start again. |
This was me with my first baby. Second baby, I maxed out at 160 while pregnant. At 5’10” at 40, I’m currently 180. While I don’t expect to get back down to whippet weight, 150 would be good. |
I love this! Thank you!
I am 5'11, and obese at 230 pounds. ![]() I have joined an accountability group via Beachbody. I've been watching this girl via Instagram, and now I've joined her group. She seems genuine and I like the group. I can't quit now. I HAVE to lose this weight. It's awful and uncomfortable. |
I am here, too. 5’11” 50 year old and a horrible 180/185 now. I sat at 160 for years after having kids (was 150 before) and then the pandemic hit and my drinking went up and I went into menopause.
I got sick recently and it stopped my wine with dinner every night trend, so that’s gotta help. But I have a massive sweet tooth, and similarly don’t want to model “dieting” for my teen daughters. How does IF work? Can you lay out a plan for me to try? I have literally NEVER dieted in my life (thank you tall parents) but apparently need to now. It’s a heavy bummer, but I’d at least like to get back to reliably fitting in my size 12s, if not 10s. |
Hi guys, I assure you your situations are not as bad as you think! 5’10” here and hit 253lbs after major life trauma. Got trauma treatment, now down to 195 and think I look great. Goal is 165-170. |
I’m glad! How did you lose the weight? |
