Tall woman weight loss thread

I’m down to 173, with a goal weight of 160. I’m 5’11”, age 55. I’ve been walking most evenings. I also have PCOS, so I carry my weight my middle.

Another update. 5’11” down from 185 to 160 in 11 months. Combo of Covid, walking/ running /hiking, upping protein, and stressing over parent hospitalization. Once we hit the time change I stopped outdoor activities and tried to shift to indoor workouts without much success. I think I’m encouraged since if I can develop a weightlifting/ cardio routine I can maintain.

Thanks.

I’m 50, 5’10” an athletic build (college athlete) and feel good around 170-180.

Mostly aimed to eat well and be active through my early 40s…. But hurt my back in my mid-40s and fell off regular exercise then menopause and have gained weight and am currently 215 and it doesn’t feel good to my body and my pants don’t fit.

I’m trying to
eat better (I am more impulsive)
Get active again because my I don’t feel strong
Improve my core and posture

I’m the poster above - thanks for the revival!I forgot about this thread!!
I’m down to 205 (from 215) after limiting alcohol, and dessert.
I am walking routinely and doing 20-30 mins of stretching daily!
I think it’s being more active that’s making the biggest difference for me.

Good luck.

You’re welcome to join us. Just don’t gasp when you hear 150 lbs is our ideal weight.

What do you think an ideal weight range should be for 5' 4.5" inch woman?

I’m 5’11” and currently nearly 190 lbs. I am hoping to get down to 150 this year—it’s the weight at which I look and feel best. (Actually, I was briefly 139 and looked amazing but that’s never happening again.) Anyone want to join me?

I have settled on a form of intermittent fasting, mostly because I’m terrible with portion control. It’s much easier for me to not eat anything than to eat a little bit of whatever. This is actually how I ate naturally before I had kids—long gaps between meals, no snacking—so I think it ought to work. I’m trying to figure out the pattern that will be most sustainable for me.

FWIW, I’m 45 and this is the first time health has been my primary motivator in weight control. I lost a close family member this year far too young and I just want to make sure I’m doing what I can to live a long, healthy life for my kids.

Thank you for this thread!! 5’11” 185 here and I am so tired of trying methods that just do not work for me. 45 y o and I am now realizing that almost none of the fashion or weight loss advice out there is relevant to me.

I’d say 5’8” is the bottom range of tall from the perspective of a tall woman (I’m 5’11”). Anyone under 5’8” can generally buy clothes off the rack and they will fit.

FYI, not if you are short, they don't.

I have a friend who is 5'1 and she gets a ton of clothes from Gap kids.

They don't fit the same. I have a few kids clothing, but they really are cut differently.

They fit her great.
Swell.

I am 55 185 and tall. I look fine and thin ish but i carry weight around the middle - totally the same way i was when pregnant and I’m sick of people mistaking me for pregnant. Also this stature is wrecking my back. I need to lose 30 lbs. even 20 would make a huge difference. but zero diets so far have worked. Going to try a weight loss pill in January when my coverage kicks in.

Cmon 5’4 people - can you start your own thread? There are so few conversations that pertain specifically to the Tall situation.
