link to presser??
https://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2022/01/04/hogan-to-announce-emergency-actions-in-response-to-covid-19/ SO far: Over next few weeks, MD could see 5,000 hospitalizations. He declared 30 day emergency. 1,000 Maryland National Guard members are being mobilized to assist with opening 20 new testing sites outside Maryland hospitals in order to meet rising demand for testing and to divert people away from visiting emergency rooms for COVID tests. Calls on Biden to increase access to monoclonal antibodies. Expresses gratitude to healthcare workers and moves to the general to talk about National Guard.
FYI, the emergency declaration PROTECTS HOSPITALS FROM BEING SUED FOR ADVERSE OUTCOMES, because they are operating at catastrophic standards. This was a request from hospitals themselves, who know they cannot provide adequate care. This affects you and me if we get into a car accident on icy roads, for example, or have a heart attack or stroke. Hogan refuses to put in place measures that could reduce the number of people flooding hospitals, and this is one of the consequences. He is acting extremely irresponsibly.
x1000 It's time to restrict care for those not vaxxed by choice. Not vaccinated by choice? Great. Now the consequence of that choice is that you get treatment in a tent outside of the hospital by a retiree with expired credentials or a student nurse/doctor. Enjoy. Those who have taken this pandemic seriously, worn masks, gotten vaccinated, and gotten boosters should not have to be terrified of an injury from slipping on the ice. Or their kid breaking a bone. Or their elderly relative having a medical emergency. My SIL is now playing the waiting game to see if my nephew's ACL repair surgery is canceled with this announcement since elective surgeries can be called off and an ACL repair is considered elective.
