So you think the people holding up those signs asking for training for good jobs want to wipe your butt and slaughter the animals for your steak dinner. Nope. They want the assembly line jobs, or the new manufacturing jobs that will come from the CHIPS act. That woman did not give up her asylum in Chile to come wipe geriatric arses for a living. |
The only job that I can imagine having super high wages and still not attract very many applicants is slaughter houses. That is honestly the only exception to what I’m about to say because most people would have an issue being actively involved in causing mass death of animals as a job every day. However, nursing home aids, other AG jobs, construction, janitors, etc… these would have many more applicants if they were paid a commensurate wage in relation to how rough/hard/messy/gross/laborious the job is. Like, why would someone wipe butts if they could make the same amount/similar money bagging groceries? Why would someone work toiling in a field taking care of crops while being exposed to pesticides for the same wage as working in a McDonalds? Some industries are addicted to cheap labor, and have managed to make it seem like it’s necessary for them to have a continuous flow people willing to do toiling work and be exploited. They threaten us with “ohhh no your cheap groceries will disappear! Health care prices will go up!” One way or another we already pay and subsidize these industries paying low wages. Increased crowding, long emergency room wait times, welfare and social services for their kids, schools paying extra for ELL supports, the local issues that come from having a high amount of people in poverty, etc. And its not like stuff is actually cheap even. Nursing homes will drain the average persons wealth and assets away, groceries just keep getting more and more expensive. |
Everything he said is true. Biden is not going to do anything to secure the border. He has proven that. He has had 3 years and conditions have only worsened. We have had nearly 2 million got-aways enter since Biden took office. In reality, these are only the ones we know about. How many others entered undetected? The probability that some of those entering are terrorists or have bad intentions is quite high. I agree with Senator Johnson. Even if Congress passes legislation, there is no guarantee that Biden will follow it. He and his cronies will seek some loophole to continue allowing under-educated migrants in. Or, simply continue what he has been doing. We absolutely need a change in leadership. Biden has broken every record when it comes to our border. Every damned metric. Except deportations. The most: Encounters Migrant deaths Releases into the US Fentanyl Terrorists trying to enter What else do you need to show that what Biden is doing is a humanitarian disaster, an environmental disaster, an economic disaster, and a national security disaster? |
If the border was actually open, there would be no encounters, no fentanyl interdictions etc. Instead, we have record apprehensions, record drug interdictions (which are smuggled in trucks through ports of entry, not on the backs of asylum-seekers) etc. What we need is better technology at the border and more agents patrolling, as well as drones etc. That is what Biden is seeking money for, in addition to more money for administrators to hear and dispose of asylum cases so those who shouldn't be here, won't be. Instead the GOP drags its feet and has no interest in providing the funds needed to address the issue so as to keep people like the PP angry about it and keep it as a wedge voting issue. |
1. What drugs they FIND is mostly at the ports of entry. We have no idea how much is getting through with drug mules illegally entering - considering how many got-aways we have had, I would assume quite a bit. And, as for the ports of entry - many of our agents have been pulled from the ports of entry to process and transport that migrants entering illegally. So, many vehicles are not checked. And, with the record fentanyl poisoning in the country, you know a lot is getting through. 2. I agree on the technology, the drones and the agents. I say we also need a physical barrier - a wall - in order to slow down entry. A drone only captures the images - unless, of course, it is an armed drone. These got aways move quickly. If there is no physical barrier, a drone can do nothing.... and BTW, drones are how we know that there have been nearly 2 million got aways since Biden took office. 3. I have ZERO confidence that Biden would utilize more agents to enforce the border - what would they do as masses of migrants cross and claim asylum? He's doing nothing now. His desire to hire more agents is just so they can process and transport them more quickly. This administration is all about optics and they don't want those facilities filling up again. He actually does not allow CBP to do their jobs. 4. I am all for hiring judges to hear asylum claims, but not with Biden at the helm. I have no doubt he will lower the bar for asylum seekers so that judges would find most eligible. He has already lowered the bar in the questioning of migrants from China they encounter. Bottom line - I do not trust Biden. Not one bit. And, the Republicans in Congress don't either. He has not earned trust when it comes to the border. |
She is not only a gas lighter, she is blatant liar. This is the same woman who said there was nothing "unusual" about the migrant encounters in Dec. (it was a record month and usually Dec. is slower), and that his policies have reduced the flow of migrants (they haven't) and that “The President has done more to secure the border to deal with this issue of immigration than anyone else.” That last one is a direct quote. |
You can throw all the tech at the border you want, and double or triple the number of agents and judges. Wont do much if we don’t get rid of the pull factors like lax/nonexistent interior enforcement. This is why I was so surprised about what I was hearing GOP wanting attached to the Ukraine funding bill. It was actual policy changes that would help to stem the flow. (Not everything that I think is needed but it was actually a good start). Because the new tech/funding has always been the go-to for any sort of “solution” the GOP offers. Which is more of a “look we did something!” But wouldn’t actually do much to fix the problem. |
You forgot to ban all non citizens and foreign governments from buying single family homes. All those unoccupied McMansions in the DC suburbs are owned by wealthy foreigners and governments to hide money or “just in case” they decide to leave their home country. |
Trump's wall didn't work. The only way he had to keep border crossings down was to make the country so horrible that fewer people wanted to migrate here. It's inevitable that border crossings would go back up under any president but him. |
And he had the pandemic to help him. |
