It's always known to have a "fix". These days it is virtually worthless and irrelevant.

Pre-seeded tryouts and pre-selection were already known.

Take a look at what club all of the Northern VA ODP coaches are from. The same one.

Which club?

Which age group?

That's trolling a bit hard now to say that it's rigged and it's mainly 1 club. They have the best interest in finding the best players available/interested from their own district. I was there w my kid and there appeared to be many kids with jerseys from their club and many were not Arlington. I'm not w/ Arlington and although there may be more Arlington coaches, they are the ones giving up their time to be there and to work the program. Other coaches from other clubs should probably seek out those opportunities if they wish and at the least why not encourage the players of their clubs to participate.

You are an idiot. Everyone said that only kids on the lowest teams get cut. All you ever had to say was that the kid was on the lowest team. Yes, if you are on the lowest team you may end up cut. If you are not on the lowest team you are not at risk of getting cut but of getting demoted.

But thanks after a week you finally fessed up to what everyone has said, only kids on the lowest team are at general risk of being cut. So as stated earlier, congratulations all these kids you know simply suck at soccer.

I've given up on trying to teach you how to read. Many posts in this thread stated that clubs don't cut kids. Some posts found it "hard to believe" that a club would cut a kid entirely out of the club. Go back and check.

And there have been instances where it's NOT the lowest team.

i hope you are better at soccer than you are at reading.

My position is that Clubs do their best to not have to cut kids. I have agreed with you that the kids that you know of must simply suck. Yes, clubs cut kids that suck. Are you happy now ass?

From what I hear, Arlington coaches often prefer kids from outside over Arlington players, so I wouldn't be so sure that it's rigged.

From what I saw at tryouts, ODP is for people that drive luxury cars.

So I take it that you'll not be returning. I was there not in a luxury car. Why not worry more about the quality of the kids and coaches and not what the parents are driving. It's open to everyone. People just love to hate.

Anonymous wrote:LOL what club is having their kids ECNL kids play in WAGS?

First, WAGS only allows so many guest players

Second, There is no player pass between U.S. Club Soccer and WAGS. So no, sorry to burst your bubble but ECNL kids are not playing in WAGS unless there is a dire roster need.

This is laughable.

I'm not the one what made the claim, which I also find highly suspect, but the only possible choice is Bethesda. Of the local ECNL clubs, FCV's second teams play VPL; McLean and MdUnited's second teams play CCL. Bethesda is the only one with B teams that play in WAGS, unless this poster making the even more ludicrous claim that ECNL teams are having players play down with C or D teams in WAGS.

This was a few years ago. CCL wasn't in the equation at the time. Maybe WAGS has changed the rules since then. (Or, I suppose, we're now talking about NCSL rules.) But even if not, there's a simple way to do it. Tell 25 kids they're ECNL players and tell 8 kids they're WAGS players. But when you turn in your rosters, make sure you have 15 on the WAGS roster.

ECNL allows 30 -- THIRTY!!! -- players on a team roster. They can only suit up 18 for a game. Do the other 12 just sit around?

Geez -- people get defensive about the weirdest things!

ECNL can dual roster players on a NPL team because it is a U.S. Club Soccer player pass, that is it nothing sinister about it and basically the same thing as the CCL and CCL II player passes. In order for a ECNL player to play on a WAGS team they would have to be a guest player. You cannot be dual rostered in two separate leagues otherwise. The paper work required and the limitations that WAGS places on guest playing make it highly unlikely that ECNL players would be on a WAGS team other than a true need due to a injury. It has nothing to do with WAGS being "beneath" the ECNL players as much as it is a pain paperwork wise for each and every game. It just isn't practical and for no real reason.

And while ECNL allows up to 30 players on a roster you will likely not find any team over 25 and most stay at 22, which is normal at older ages when injuries can mount. And yes, players will make the trip and not dress for a game or they will play on the NPL team as the need arises or development needs require.

All I can tell you is that a certain club a few years ago (maybe 2-3?) made it work out. The ECNL kids sulked through WAGS games, the team was relegated from D1, and the WAGS families were pissed.

If it's not commonplace or no longer possible, fine. Probably for the best. But I'll be happy to swear on a virtual bible that it did in fact happen.

With that ... did everyone see NCSL division structures are out now?

How does NCSL determine those structures? I see that U9 boys has 3 divisions, one with a lot more clubs/teams then the others? Is there any meaning to those structures at, e.g., U9 before they go to the numerically ranked divisions at older ages? Thx.

At U9 the only meaning in the structures would likely be simple geography. They will do their best to limit travel. There is no emphasis on seeding based on "quality". They are U9 after all.

This should get the award for Most Stupid Comment Ever Made In This Thread.

P.S. The cost of ODP is far less than any elite club training, so the attempted mischaracterization of ODP being only for rich people is erroneous.

P.S.S. My kid plays ODP, and I drive a very non-luxury, old car, with a less-than-ideal paint job.
