How do you have winless Bethesda and BRYC ranked higher than 9th or 10th?

Sorry, BRYC isn't ranked.

But how can Bethesda be ranked higher than FC Frederick until the beat FC Frederick?

You may find a niche role in the midfield but will be a limited player. If you have breakaway speed but limited technical skill, teams will take a chance on you up front in hopes that you can chase down long balls and have enough skill to put it in. But you have to have elite speed and again have a limited role because you won’t be able to build up play out of the back or midfield. I would strongly prioritize technical development but as you get older and have the baseline technical skill shift time towards speed, agility and endurance.

I agree. They do not even need to run with the ball. It’s just a poke or hard touch to get the ball by the opponent and chase the ball down. If you are faster no need to actual have control of the ball. That is different vs running by a player while dribbling. The thing is if you are the fastest on your team you are just not playing at a high enough level. What happens at the next level when you go from being the fastest on the team to average?

What good is that speed if it takes 3 touches to get control of a simple pass.

+1. Or the first touch is so bad that it bounces away towards the defenders.

It becomes a 50/50 ball which the fastest player wins. This is core to many coaches/clubs style of play. It is also why they take aggressive fast players. So a forward will dribble up to a defender and kick it by 10-20 by the defender. At this point it becomes a foot race. There is no “move” or technical skill.

This applies also to players with a bad first touch. Two player are 30 feet apart. The bad touch player receives the ball and it bounces off her foot 15 feet towards the opponent. Now it’s a 50/50 ball the fastest and most aggressive play will wins the ball. Do not act like you have never seen it.

They beat FC Frederick the first time they played but they figured out that Bethesda tries to just play the one target and then beat them the next 2 times. Close games every time, with Bethesda still controlling possession a bit more for sure. Pretty accurate list this is, at least with last year's rosters. It will be interesting to see how much all these teams change roster wise for next season.

Well, if Bethesda wins 2 league games next year it will be great success and should vault them to the top 3

It’s a prediction for this time next year

Funny how people point out Bethesda and not McLean. No difference really in the ECNL record yet poster put McLean much higher. But it is just a prediction I guess.

Not one of those posters but McLean and SYC joined/merged. Usually when two teams combine the new team is pretty good. SYC beat a number of the teams on the list add in the existing McLean players plus some new ones. The bottom line is no one will know because a some teams changed a lot other did not.

Perhaps because Bethesda somehow is still arrogant in spite of their record?

There are not any arrogant parents on Bethesda 08s. There are however parents at other Clubs that do not like Bethesda. Bethesda members are well within their rights to defend against defamation of both coaches and teams.

I'm not here to start another argument or debate a record or ranking. I don't care. Also have no idea how next year will go since we have a new coach. Could be better, could be worse.
