I don’t expect swim teams to work out—I just want the HOA pool to open with limited entry so at least the kids can swim. And it is way too hot in the summer here for any of those activities outside for most of the day. Rent a boat, really? |
| Kids in our neighborhood have been swimming in this filthy run off creek since the pool is closed. I can’t imagine this is better for public health than swimming in a pool with a lifeguard. |
I’m not going to insult you. It your suggested time line is not going to happen. It’s also not on its last legs. |
Oh, I know it's not going to happen but it should. Hogan and the rest of the idiots running this country couldn't possibly admit they were wrong in every regard of how this was handled. It is absolutely on its last legs as the death count has dramatically decreased over the last 4 weeks, infection rates are down, hospitalizations are down, the national death expectancy rate is actually lower in most of the country year over year except in NY/NJ region where, if not for that region, the rate would be below last year. There's more but facts never go over well on this site. |
Gross. Isn’t that how people get those brain parasites? |
And even if my timeline doesn't happen, it will be far better than those predicted just 1 month ago where students won't be in school and sports won't exist until 2021. The numbers will be so deflated by the end of August it will be impossible to deny any further. But the damage to the psyche will be too much to overcome especially for lemmings in DC region. You can already tell by looking at the political discussion in dcum the posters have moved on. Any arguing of numbers has moved on and I believe those threads are now 3 pages down. |
Sounds like you live in a neighborhood full of d-bags. That’s not happening in mine. There has been strong social pressure to adhere to the guidelines and the vast majority are. The teenagers are a much bigger issue here. |
....and someone on here thought parents would be able to control their kids at the pool and keep a distance from other kids. ("Why aren't we trusting that adults supervising children at a pool can make sure their kids are following the rules?") You have to govern to the lowest level of stupid. Hence the slow phased approach. |
? There are a whole bunch of us whose kids are potty trained but still young. And yeah let me go ahead and go through the requirements for being licensed to operate a boat while taking care of my kids during the day and doing my full time job at night. I have so much free time for that. |
Ever heard of a paddle boat or a canoe? No license necessary. But yeah, the summer pool daycare/baby sitting option is a much better alternative that many parents are missing this summer.
|
| People can bicker all they want, but plenty of pools are starting swim team practice the day phase 2 starts. It’s scheduled, not wishful thinking. |
If they aren’t going to be supervised, I would rather they be unsupervised swimming in a chlorinated pool with lifeguards. Kids are going to drown, get bacterial infections, etc. swimming in dirty water. |
You sound so bitter. Why? No one can drop their kids off at our pool until age 10. What are you talking about? |
In our neighborhood, everyone followed the rules—no playing with kids outside your household- from when schools closed until the end of phase zero. Now in phase 1, people are letting kids play outside in groups of ten or fewer. Which seems to be the general reading of the guidelines, at least in this part of Fairfax. |
My kids started already. |
