Seems like the parents would want to be with the kids, especially to explore the ship the first day?

And another question: do we really believe the family has not seen the videos? I'm not sure I do...

I don't think that's weird. Maybe he was helping out while the parents unpacked, who knows.

Mom was nearby and ran over when she heard a commotion.

That's curious. Does every mother expect that a commotion involves their child? Or did she have a trust issue?

I think it's a pretty natural reaction, when you hear a commotion coming from the direction of your child, to go find out what's happening and make sure your child is okay. Especially with a toddler. Even though the grandfather was with her, a commotion could have been because the grandfather collapsed or something.

The mom said during an interview "when they told me that Chloe had died" she wasn't sure what had happened. People were telling her not to look out the window but she did and that is when she saw Chloe below on the pavement. It was sort of weird the way she said it in the interview. Was she told that Chloe had died even before she looked out the window? Who told her that? Apparently the big brother was the first one to get to Grandpa and the window so he saw what had happened first.....

Not that any of that matters now. What a horror.

I will take her version with a grain of salt. I am very skeptical of anything they are telling the media because they have money on the mind. Has it been corroborated that the sun saw something from anybody else?

I think the whole thing has been about getting money. The brother has just been the convenient excuse for not releasing the video.

There is nothing graphic about that video at all. The only thing upsetting and completely inexplicable thing about it is that it does not corroborate Grandpa's version of events.

To clarify - I mean this whole business of holding back the tape from being released - has been a strategy used by the lawyer to get a settlement out of RC.

Except they know RCI has seen the tapes. It’s THEIR footage. Pretty weak negotiating position.

The purpose of not releasing the tape was to gain public sympathy for this family in an attempt to get RC to settle fast. RC would have looked like complete aholes for releasing the video against the wishes of this poor, grief stricken family...yet another reason for the family to sue RC.

I'm not sure who released the tape but, given the fact that it does not bolster the grandfather's versions of events, quite the opposite actually, I can see why this lawyer was eager to keep a lid on that tape.

Someone in the Puerto Rican PD leaked the tapes.

I think RCI has played this totally right. Sympathy for the family, no other comment. They know facts are on their side.

I don't know that the mom actually said that her son saw anything. I recall seeing it reported in the news that the boy was the first family member to arrive at the scene. I did a quick look for a news story that says that and I can't seem to find one now.

Weird that they would pick 51 year old grandpa to be on childcare duty while the mom and both grandmothers did something else? Did they not trust him to unpack? Was his physically impaired?

+1

A lot of these types are good with machines and awfully incompetent with anything living. Ask the wives of DCUM.

Somebody mentioned upthread that the rest of the family was at a nearby cafe finishing a meal. Chloe must have gotten antsy at the table and Grandpa took her for a walk, giving the others the opportunity to finish their food. I haven't seen where that's been reported anywhere but that is what a pp mentioned earlier in the thread.

The parents have said all along that the grandfather has never given them reason for concern and they trusted him with Chloe.

I haven't noticed anything of the sort. That's an unfortunate stereotype that is often applied to engineers and any other math/science minded field.

It should tell you, from the high percentage of those who lack people skills here, that they do exist, and are plentiful.

Anello made it to the age of 51. He must have had some idea that falling 11 stories onto concrete would not be a smart thing to do. Same with sticking your head in a 400 degree oven or cutting your leg off with a chain saw.

Again, luck.

Uh, no. The dude isn't a doddering, blithering idiot. He's a reasonably smart, functional guy who used exceedingly poor judgement and cost an innocent baby her life.
