I imagine the avg is like 0 or less than 1 right bc a lot of women never have an abortion, right? I just don’t see this as THAT big of a deal — if you live in Alabama won’t you just seek it out in FL now (as I imagine Mississippi and Tennessee have/will have similar laws)?

And just how do you suppose a poor pregnant woman can afford to take days off and fund a trip to Florida (or wherever)?

The kids of wealthy white Republican politicians, sure, mommy and daddy will pay. But the young woman working 3 jobs to support herself--how's she going to get the time/money to travel?

What don’t you tell us more about how privileged you are.

Are you paying any attention? In at least one case, Georgia), it's illegal to cross state lines to seek an abortion under these new restrictions. And just because it's no big deal to most people (all men, many women), it's a VERY big deal when YOU or your loved one is the one who needs an abortion.

Those of you who don't think these new abortion laws are any big deal are focusing too narrowly on what these laws mean. A government that can tell you you don't have sovereignty over your own body can also, for example, force you to donate an organ or can decriminalize rape. The point is that once the government can control what your body is used for, then that door can swing wide open. If you don't think that's a big deal, then you're foolish.

Are you sure it is white men punishing women? Many abortions and unwanted oregnancies are among the African American and Hispanic groups. It might not fit your narrative, but look at the men who create the need for abortions.

You are a racist POS

So if a black or Hispanic man commits rape, it is the fault of a white man. Gotcha.

That’s some willful ignorance right there. What you said isn’t true, but in a few months, if a black woman (or any other woman) wants to get an abortion in Georgia or Alabama (barring a few exceptions), she’ll be denied it or face prison because of white men.

The white men in the state legislature, dumbass.

"If the 2014 age-specific abortion rates prevail, 24% of women aged 15 to 44 years in that year will have an abortion by age 45 years."

The mistresses (past and present) of these 25 Republican white males, need to start showing some receipts.

Men rape 5 year olds, and men rape 85 year olds. Doesn't matter how you act or what you look like.

Rape is about power. And now Alabama rapists will have to power to force women to raise kids conceived with rapist DNA, possibly leading to more rapists.

I thought about this, too. Now scumbag loser men can rape and have children with whomever they want. They don't have to settle. Go out and find the girl who would never be with them in a million years, rape them and if the woman gets pregnant, bingo! She'll HAVE to give birth. And, if she keeps her baby, petition for visitation so he can see her for the next 20 years!

Crazy! So they are forcing women to have babies in cases of rape. So are they going to force birth control on women too. Women will be leaving the state. Forget going to college there.

this. this right here is the part that terrifies me about all of this. Women in countries with abortion bans get thrown in jail for miscarriage.

It has happened right here in this country, too. In states with personhood and fetal homicide bills. Women imprisoned for miscarriage/stillbirth.

This shit is scary and is why I am terrified for my daughters to grow up in a country like this.

We have dual citizenship with Malta and will probably return there if this nonsense continues.

Who are white men. It’s ok to try to twist someone’s words to make it seem like they’re blaming white men for black men’s actions, but it’s not ok to blame white men for white men’s actions? Are you from Alabama?

No, you got it all wrong. We don't want you to procreate at all. Use birth control, have as much sex as you want, don't procreate.

Bullshit. The right loses its mind every time you try to teach kids about birth control or make birth control more easily available. These are the same assholes who oppose the HPV vaccine even though it prevents cervical cancer because getting the vaccine encourages promiscuity.

We don't want it for our kids. You can do whatever you want. As long as you are sterilized.

Even sterilization has failure rates.

Ummm, no it wouldn't, because both partners would get sterilized.

What if they’re not done having children yet?

They forfeited their right to have children by allowing slaughter of over 60 million of Americans since RwW. Despite historically unprecedented freedom of choice of contraceptives, despite all rights and amazing opportunities, you chose careless sex and abortion as a form of contraception. The more choices you had to not procreate at a whim the more disdain you showed for unborn life. Sometimes having too many choices clearly leads to complete moral demise. No, please don't start with rape and incest. Everyone knows this is the tiny percentage of all abortions. Stop using rape and incest as proxy for easy access to murder for convenience.

You're welcome to have your own religion but you don't get to enforce your religion on other people.

I am an atheist. The secular pro-life movement is growing as fast as religious one. One does not need fairytales to clearly see a human being on the ultrasound. One does not need religion to understand that zygote and onwards is a person. You just need brain cells.

Cool. So, quick hypothetical for you: you're in an IVF clinic, and the clinic is burning down. On your right is a canister with 5000 frozen fertilized eggs. On your left is a screaming 3 year old. You can't carry both. Which do you leave behind?

How bratty is the 3 year old.

That's a feature, not a bug. Rich (Republican) girls get abortions, go to graduate school, then SAH with kids and a wealthy husband. Poor (Democrat) girls have their baby, get a GED, and spend a lifetime juggling multiple jobs with low pay as a single mother.

Trust me, Republican politicians know EXACTLY what they are doing.

They need to fill the country with poorly educated women who are fearful and impoverished so that’s they can fill massage salons and get the votes!

On contrary, we don't want them reproducing at all. They continue cycles of poverty.

But without poverty, you can’t instill fear and win elections. It’s the MAGA/Hitler way!

What? Dems are the champions of the poor and the poor are their biggest constituency.
