Official Abortion Thread

This conversation is over; the GOP is without argument.

There is no way anyone could debate it in good faith with people like you who make ridiculous statements like this.

Finally, agreement on both sides. Let's ask Jeff to close this thread forever.

DP and it might be ridiculous to you, but you have to admit that the GOP has lost any right to call itself "pro-life" when it has come out saying the economy is more important than the lives of old and sick people. And you can't deny that has been the official stance of the GOP. There are tons of videos and statements to that end, that on the scale of significance to them, the economy weighs much more than people likely to suffer from Coronavirus. That ain't pro-life. It's the opposite.

Yes, how can they say "pro-life" with a straight face?

GOP = death mongers.

Only 1 out of every 5 Republicans believes that saving the economy is more important. That is hardly the "GOP".

Using your argument, I would then say that every D governor who has chosen to start opening up, believes that the economy is more important.

Norma McCorvey, the anonymous plaintiff in Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion throughout the United States, said she had later spoken out on behalf of the anti-abortion movement only because she was paid to do so, according to a new documentary.

Why am I not surprised by this

So pro-lifers have NOTHING to say about this?

She did it for money. That does not mean that abortion is not abhorrent.

Then, she never really was a champion of the pro-choice cause...if she was willing to be bought.

Sounds like she did for the same reason she wanted an abortion-- she was poor and desperate and didn't have good options. Not that hard to understand.

I just watched the trailer for the documentary and am looking forward to seeing it. There is a lot about her life I didn't know. Her circumstances sound so, so sad.

If she was poor and desperate, why didn't the pro-choice movement find something for her, as a spokesperson, speaking tours, or whatever. Heck she is the poster child for the movement.

BS. You can't support the death penalty, oppose extending health care to those who are unable to obtain it (whether adults or children), support treating illegal immigrants and refugees in manner being done by Small Donald and Smaller Stephen, ignore the death toll caused directly by Small Donald's incompetence, support opening up the economy without reasonable protections, and be "pro-life." Sorry. Calling a spade a spade. As Governor Christie rightfully said, if you are pro-life, then you must be for all life, including the young girl recovery from addiction. And including Black Lives Matter, which of course does not mean that White Lives Do Not Matter. "Its easy to be pro-life for the 9 months they're in the womb, they haven't done anything to disappoint us yet." Your tribe once again taking the easy way out.

BS. You completely deflected from the "GOP having killed almost 100,000 Americans..." blah, blah, blah BS statement made above. Thus, validating my point. Thank you.

Pro-choice movement didn't have big money backers like the Koch Bros shelling out money left and right to push their agenda.

GOP has to buy its way. Just like they have to force kids to go march. They take advantage of others every chance they get.
