Have you ever been personal friends with a seriously famous person?

Not seriously famous for many years, but I went to elementary school with Tom Fogerty's (Creedence Clearwater Revival) kids and the I went to high schools with the sons of Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead drummer) and one of the Bachmans (not sure which one) from Bachman Turner Overdrive.

I know Greta Gerwig from college. It’s been awesome seeing such good things happen to her this year.

These people are at least currently famous unlike lots of the posts in this thread...

Keith once told me where he’d be playing a pop up show later that day (a few hours before it was public info). They’re pretty delightful people.

Awe, I love his music!

My sister is very good friends with Gwenyth Paltrow if that excites anyone. She's OK, not totally my type of friend but they go way way back and have stayed in touch all these years so guess it works!

They seem like it!

I must say, everyone in my class was super excited at our last reunion because your reunion was at the same time and Connie was there.

Not excited, but extremely weirded out, that a younger alum brought Eliot Spitzer to hang out in a frat basement at the same reunion!

Lis Smith! I was working in NY politics at the time that was going on and it was super weird.

Nashville is such a great town for bumping into well known people. But Keith and Nicole are still pretty special there and absolutely the coolest.

I know Dolly Parton. I would say we're "friends" but I've known her for 20 years. Her whole cheap, big breasted, big hair, trash talking persona is an act. She's a great writer, tireless worker and a very savvy businesswoman, incredibly generous and loyal beyond belief.

My sister is good friends with a very well known British celebrity (well known in Britain, not here). This woman is famous for her surgically enhanced breasts, for wearing very skimpy clothes in the tabloids and for saying attention-seeking, outrageous things. It's funny to see photos of her in the Daily Mail with my sister and her husband in the background. They stay at her house and she'll FaceTime with me to say hi to this woman and her kids (also recognizable to me) who I've read intimate details about in the British tabloids. She has her own perfume line and multiple volumes of best selling autobiographies.
