Have you ever been personal friends with a seriously famous person?

I am friends with 2 famous people European women. Most Americans have heard or read about them (one is a very famous princess) but would not recognize them on the streets of DC which would not be the case in Europe or even LA, especially for the princess.

Wait, are you a partner now at Paul Hastings? I think I know you then.

I have been outed many times here but not this time. I do not now nor have I ever worked at Paul Hastings.

I used to know Prince Albert of Monaco. We’re the same age and we often were at the same parties when he was at Amherst College. I got to know him better when we were active in the same charitable organization. He used to invite me to the annual party he gave in NYC and to the annual Bal de l’Ete in Monaco. Neither one of us is still active in the organization we were once involved in. Last time I saw him was many years ago at the Bal de l’Ete when I was sitting at one of the tables of another friend I’m still in touch with, Prince Rudolf Kniase Melikoff. Rudolf is famous with a certain sector of the population. You can Google him.

Is Alice Cooper a nice guy in person? I know someone who used to live near him. He seems normal and pleasant, unlike his stage persona. LOL.
h

Alice Cooper is one of the only people in my life who I can say is a really good person. Many celebrities get involved with charities but they make sure that everyone knows about it. But Alice Cooper doesn’t care anything about looking like a good person, he cares about being a good person. Many years ago my parents, mostly my mother, got him involved in helping to preserve Native American culture and improving the lives of people on reservations. Alice still spends much of his time doing this, even though he could be making a lot of money doing other things. He is one of those rare people who does good things because they are good things, not so other people will admire him or because he thinks he’ll get some big reward in the afterlife.

That's what I thought! Thanks for answering It also sounds like when he stopped drinking (a long time ago, now) it didn't hurt, either. I love it when celebrities are great people like this, probably because so many non-celebrities are mistakenly proud to be total a-holes.

You may remember in the movie “Wayne’s Is World” Alice Cooper did a cameo appearance playing himself. What made it funny was that was totally different from what people expected. Alice explained how Milwaukee got its name from the Native American nation who had been the organization inhabitants. That was the real Alice Cooper.

Yes! Love it!

If you're the type of person who's going to spill about your friendship with a very famous person on an internet message board, you're probably not the kind of person who's going to become friends with a seriously famous person. I am good friends with two very famous Hollywood women that people are always speculating about, but I value my friendships with them more than I value the brief bit of anonymous attention I would get here.

Back to your original point, No. Bernie Kerik is not famous.

Agreed. I posted about my husband being long time friends with guy from famous band. Not that he would ever read a Mom message board in DC but I would never say who it was because that would just be awkward and mortifying that I was talking about him on a message board. So much for trusting your old school friends!

He's really nice, super humble, doesn't mention Fame, hasn't magically introduced me to Debbie Allen. He's very into art.

Bruno! Loved his song Face to Face.

But simply saying you (an anonymous person) are friends with him or her isn't really selling the person out or violating his or her privacy. You're not giving out any information about the celebrity. Doing an AMA about your famous friend would be different.

It's not violating their privacy in that sense, but it is a violation of the friendship because I'd be using their name and my connection to them to get attention for myself (even if anonymously). For someone whose privacy is routinely violated by people around them, someone using the friendship that way is a huge red flag that they're not to be trusted, because who knows when they might start to share more information to get more attention. A big part of why I've been good friends with them for so long is because I am a vault, most people I know don't have any clue I even know these women, let alone how close we are.

I went to college with Maria Menounos. She was heavier then and used to run the stairs in the dorm for exercise.
