Gun store opening next door to Franklin Sherman Elementary in Mclean

I will be supporting this gun store.

yet another vote support the gun store. It's perfectly legal. It caused no harm when it was across the street from the post office. It's a perfectly-run business - and doens't have a Class 3 license (it doesn't sell "machine guns" as someone ignorantly posted yesterday). Foust and his liberal friends are the only ones concerned about this issue. He doesn't have a legal leg to stand on; neither do the silly protestesting moms. This is exactly why Dem. Foust lost to Rep. Barbara Comstock for the 10th Congressional Seat issue, and why Jennifer Chronis will beat him for Dranesville Supervisor. He doesn't have a constituent base in McLean. The real voice of Mclean is quiet. We all own guns and due to this outcry we will go to the Auto Store (which I've never been to once) and support the landlord and will go buy my guns at the new store. Most of us wouldn't have even known the gun store moved if OP and the crazies hadn't made such a fuss. This is indeed the Stresand effect where too much fuss creates the exact opposite effect of what OP wanted. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect. The people buying guns and ammo from that store are the people like me who have a registered gun for self-protection and a concealed carry permit or rifles for shooting clays. The people that are doing the crimes get their guns from the underground or by stealing other peoples' guns. They do not go into a McLean store, show their license and have their registration sent to the ATF - that would be stupid. Let's focus on a real problem in Mclean - the at-gun-point bank robberies and the criminals' swift departure on the Beltway towards Maryland. That's the real problem.

Why don't the crazies care about the illegal guns at the McLean banks? They'd laugh in her face if she tried to run them out of town.

I've personally lost count how many hold-ups we've had. I happened to be around when one these crimes happened, and was put on the evening news with my concern for the serious lack of safety.

Why doesn't Vicky concern herself with *actual* danger zones??

FYI, Ms Cherrydale is Vicky. Her posts stick out every time. She tried to convince us McLean is just like Cherrydale. No, just no. I've lived in Cherrydale and McLean much of my life, and she has no clue what she's talking about.

She started the Keep Firearms "out of McLean" thing.

Her own proof this has NOTHING to do with the school.

Little does she know that most McLean residents already own firearms.

You sound delusional. Of course people want to minimize people like you having access to guns near their children.

Are you going to claim Vicky set up over 1600 different email accounts to sign her petition, too?

What's delusional? The fact that you simply don't want this business ANYWHERE in McLean? How about Middleburg? Is that ok with you, Ms Control Freak? They'd whip your ass out of town if you made a peep.

Did you ask us environmentalists if it's ok for you to have 9 toilet bowls in your house? Do you know our water supply is limited, Ms Wasteful Control Freak? Do you even care?

Ms Wasteful Control Freak is a shameful embarrassment to McLean.

Ahhhh! Somebody is still wrong on the internet!

How about the CIA, a stone throw away?

Franklin Sherman is one of the smaller schools in the county. The School Board could acquire the property by eminent domain and build an addition at Franklin Sherman for AAP students or special-ed programs.

I am shocked that even those who are pro-gun can't see how it is ridiculous to have a gun store NEXT DOOR to a school with 4-12 year olds. Let me pose this question, if an abortion clinic opened next to a Catholic Church, would you be okay with that? I mean, abortions are legal and all, so why not let them happen 23 feet from where you worship?

It's about knowing the community, respecting social norms and understanding there is an appropriate place for gun shops. Think about it. No one is denying you your guns, we're just asking you to not buy them 23 feet from our 4 year olds.

Perhaps you missed Vicky's petition? It says:

"KEEP NOVA FIREARMS OUT OF MCLEAN"

So, do you agree with my point? Next to a school is not reasonable but somewhere else in McLean might be?

The plan is ESOL for the day labor camp. We're going to bake the cookies.

It matters not to me as an atheist where an abortion clinic is located. You do not have the right not to be offended. Imposing your religious views on others is not the foundation that this country was built on - it's exactly the opposite.

I also don't see anything ridiculous about putting a gun store next to a school, or a day care for that matter. You'll have to explain why you find this ridiculous and it needs to be reasoned justifications, and not just fits of exasperation.

People buy cigarettes from the 7-eleven that's next to that school. Unlike guns, cigarettes do not have a single benefit that doesn't also come along with serious health side effects. Where's your outrage at the sale of cigarettes near a school? Where is your outrage at near-by fast food restaurants. Where is your outrage that people send their kids to Tae Kwon Do and other martial arts class where they are trained to fight - I mean there are plenty of other ways for a young person to engage in physical activities without involving violence. Am I to believe that the social norms of McLean is about cigarette smoking, unhealthy fast foods, and children being trained for, what, the hunger games?

Are you Vicky? Only Vicky's voice matters here. And Vicky's petition is named:

"Keep NOVA Firearms Out of McLean"

That's the only thing Vicky wants. She doesn't care at all about the school. She sounds like she hates anyone who doesn't obey her orders. She seems not to know McLean very well.

I'm pro-choice and Vicky should shop where she wants. But she doesn't want to allow others to shop where they want. That does not make a very good neighbor, does it?
