God forbid teachers work a full day.

Your jealousy is showing!
If you think being a teacher is such a cushy job, why don't you quit your current job and go to work in a school?

Indeed. I wish I could get paid vacation time anytime its cold.

Dream on.

If there's time to make videos, there's time to try a new way to reach most kids needing food.

Yes. By opening schools. On time.

But they weren't able to clean off some schools, did you offer to help them?

If you're that concerned, buy a bunch of coats at the thrift store and hand them out at bus stops.

I think you'll find that the people that aren't wearing coats are doing so by choice. While you don't want a lot of exposed skin at these temperatures, you don't need a warm jacket if you're just going to be outside for a short period.

Don't be so dismissive. There are students arriving from warmer countries that don't have cold weather gear. I don't think their kids are not wearing coats by choice. If it's 10 degrees and no wind you can get frostbite in 1 minute.

Wrong. Those are the people that you see wearing winter coats when its 50 degrees out!

Why would they? They already know what it's going to be like.

They gave in this much, but don't push your luck.

At least kids will be a disaster for teachers tomorrow. We need them to put more pressure on Taylor to stop with these silly delays.

What are you talking about? At my school, the kids come in and it's business as usual, just with a modified schedule. We don't make a big deal about it. I'm not sure why you think there's complete chaos if we open late.

Look earlier in the thread. Teachers agree kids are worse on delayed openings. Losing recess is a thing.

PP here. You don't have to tell me about recess; I supervise indoor and outdoor recess, and I assist in classrooms. The good teachers provide more movement breaks to their students on both delayed opening and indoor recess days. That's the teacher's issue if they aren't providing students enough time to move.

Maybe the good teachers do, but we're talking about MCPS here. And their teachers are in for a treat given that this is happening right after a three day weekend.

Maybe I'll skip my kid's medication in the morning to make it extra fun for them.

And maybe try to minimize sugary meals before sending them on 2hr delay or days you know they'll have indoor recess, suchas this week. That could help teachers.

Those pictures were taken this morning. And their Damascus photo already showed the snow had been cleared. The schools are fine.

Do they ever change status from 2hr delay to open on time?

Or maybe teachers should try to realize they can still work when its cold.

Ice cream for breakfast tomorrow! Maybe I'll throw in some frosted flakes to even it out.

These decisions are in line with previous superintendent’s. The difference is that Taylor isn’t waiting until the last minute to announce decisions. He’s providing ample notice and attempting to give more insight into the decision making process. I completely understand why people question some of the decisions, but I’m pleased with his communication.

Its winter. You can drive on snow.

At least, people that aren't brain damaged can. Maybe you should turn in your license.

No, that would be a disaster.
