It hasn't started snowing yet where I am. If it does snow at all, with all staff out for the holiday tomorrow, is there any chance of an on time opening for school Tuesday? |
I am more worried about the single digit temperature and would not complain if they decide to cancel. |
Drive your kids to school if you don't want them walking. Or have them wear wear warm layers. |
99% probability they’ll be closed. |
It's the end of the quarter/semester. For HS kids (and teachers) all these lost days are a disaster. |

On time. |

Snow will get heavy in the afternoon of Sunday, and there will be shovelable accumulation in the northern parts of MoCo.
Then it will freeze hard due to the polar vortex incoming after the snow. So while I don't believe Tuesday will be closed, there might be a delay because MCPS crews will not work on MLK Day. |
9:46 again. There won't be a lot of snow! But due to the hard freeze and the day off... that sets up a timing problem for clearing school properties. |
They probably won't have enough time to clear the school's that need to be shoveled by delayed opening times. Tues and Wed should be closed...depending on snow totals. Should give the whole week off as we mourn great US of A and Dept of Education. |
Yeah, big timing problem. Even with a little snow, will 2 hours on Tuesday morning in frigid cold be enough to get the snow/ice cleared? |
It depend entirely on the snow amount. Right now temps are taking a long time to fall, so it's mostly rain across our area. Predictions for snow totals may have been a little too high, but we'll only be able to tell this evening when the precipitation stops. Let's be patient. |
Building service workers will be paid to come in on Monday to clear the school lots. |
