School Opening Predictions for Tuesday?

Is this a prediction, or Dr. Taylor speaking?

They don't want to give up a development day. on Jan7 they didn't have enough time to clear off snow and ice for schools to be ready to open the next day even on a 2hr delay.

I don’t think a 2 hour delay would make a difference. Either open on time or closed.

Will enough building service workers come in if called in on Monday? Is it mandatory?

“ They don't want to give up a development day.”

Monday is not a development day. Schools and offices are closed.

I’m a teacher. I expect school will be open on time on Tuesday.

However, the concept of a normal school day is going to change a lot and snow days should be the last thing we’re worried about disrupting learning. The first time that LE shows up at a MCPS high school to detain undocumented students or middle schoolers get texts from parents who are being taken into custody, classes will not be able to continue as planned. Scared kids can’t learn.

I’d guess at least 2 hour delay, even if just to make sure the buses start in the cold.

Delay at most. The snow totals are tiny

In 20 degree weather? If they are worried buses can't start in that we have bigger problems.

Sigh. Why is this a thing. It’s winter. Snow and ice happen. That doesn’t mean we have to close schools.

It’ll be roughly 10 degree weather. They won’t all start, especially after a three day weekend.

It will be around 4 degrees. It can be hard to breath at that temp. Little kids have more surface area and get cold faster if not dressed properly.
