School Opening Predictions for Tuesday?

Funny how no other workplace is calling for a 2 hour delay. It seems like MCPS is just saying FU to working parents. Sorry you have to work but we're not going into the office, suckers!

You will be thanking them in the morning. Do you need their direct number to call in with your appreciation??

Taylor works for MCEA, not for you. Same with the BoE.

Does MCEA care if offices are open?

God forbid teachers work a full day.

Ew. They didn’t make the call, and they are regularly working outside of school hours.

If you're that concerned, buy a bunch of coats at the thrift store and hand them out at bus stops.

I think you'll find that the people that aren't wearing coats are doing so by choice. While you don't want a lot of exposed skin at these temperatures, you don't need a warm jacket if you're just going to be outside for a short period.

Don't be so dismissive. There are students arriving from warmer countries that don't have cold weather gear. I don't think their kids are not wearing coats by choice. If it's 10 degrees and no wind you can get frostbite in 1 minute.

That was wrong. Correcting to say it does take 2 hours in that weather.

It's on MCPS website. And they even included photos lol one if of WJ HS parking lot

I appreciate the school shaming. They should keep that up. Everyone in the county should be emailing those principals.

Is it the Principal's job to coordinate cleaning or MCPS Central? Or did they think the sports' teams were going out to shovel and treat today?

If their school isn't ready, then yes, they need to be coordinating with facilities management.

Why couldn't the county send in some of their plows? The streets are probably fine by now so they could have used the plows for the schools, couldn't they?

Why would they? They already know what it's going to be like.

They gave in this much, but don't push your luck.

At least kids will be a disaster for teachers tomorrow. We need them to put more pressure on Taylor to stop with these silly delays.

What are you talking about? At my school, the kids come in and it's business as usual, just with a modified schedule. We don't make a big deal about it. I'm not sure why you think there's complete chaos if we open late.

Of course they did. MCPS wouldn't do these delays if MCEA didn't want them.

Look earlier in the thread. Teachers agree kids are worse on delayed openings. Losing recess is a thing.

Look at the time on those photos. I bet those schools are fine by now.

Your jealousy is showing!
If you think being a teacher is such a cushy job, why don't you quit your current job and go to work in a school?

WJ is one of the larger HS. What schools were the other photos? Also large schools?

Dream on.

They couldn't handle a day. DP.
