Well you will know everyday where the process stands as Elon is going to give constant updates on x of what they are finding and direction they are going. They will be done in 18 months. Cuts will start way before that.

You say that, but an agency cannot just assert the right to a specific space. So, lots of empty space does not mean I can just show up at a government building and claim a desk when my office is out of seats. There has to be an agreement for the government to allow an agency to use a specific space, which they may be reluctant to do if an agency already has leased space elsewhere.

But, I also think that what would happen is that if they fire people, those people will just get sucked up by contractors for the federal government, because the new administration will eventually realize that there is stuff that has to get done and you need people to do it.

it's just like what happened with those USDA agencies that got moved under the prior Trump admin. They lost all institutional knowledge but are back up to their pre-move employment levels. It didn't reduce the federal government, it just made things less efficient.

And wasted a lot of money in the process.

It is not at all illegal for outside organizations to make detailed recommendations to the President, or any part of the executive branch.

It is illegal to perform "core governmental functions" for free. There is a difference.
