College and University Discussion
| Sun, fun, and no whining protestors to disturb the fun. |
I can't help but laugh when boosters act like Michigan, GW, Maryland, UVA, and even Cornell and Penn are such vaunted high-powered degrees. Human resources and recruiters are not valuing a Michigan degree over a UGA or Miami degree. They're just not. Nobody freaking cares. No bachelor's degree is a lottery ticket, not even HYPSM. Don't stress over admission, apply early to a fun school in the sunny south you know you will get into. Enjoy college, make nice lifelong friends, date to marry, marry young, and build a life together. |
A Penn degree is powerful lol. It’s literally an ivy with the best business school in the country. Maybe if your kid is an ethnic studies major or something it isn’t a good choice, but Penn is, for all intents and purposes, elite. |
This is a recipe for abusive relationships, where a woman can’t escape, because she built her entire life off a single man. This is the exact opposite approach a young woman should have today. |
This isn’t unique to the south. You can do all of this on the west coast. The reason people apply south is because they aren’t that intelligent and need a easy admit school. |
I know this is hard for you miserable old farts to admit but those cute "bimbo" and "mean girl" sorority girls are just... having fun and are super skilled at social media and content creation. Southern sororities are full of smart and sweet well-groomed overachievers who will become business executives, bankers, accountants, engineers, lawyers, doctors, dentists, RNs and teachers. They are outgoing Type A overachievers who study hard and play hard. And frankly, they usually don't "play" anywhere near as you dweebs expect. |
Unless you count those tiki torch guys in Charlottesville . . . |
No need to sell it. Most become teachers, and marry really young so they don’t have to work too hard. It’s great for them, but a lot of people would be miserable in their position. It isn’t envious unless that’s your sort of thing, and you value that lifestyle. |
Okay, Carrie Bradshaw. Tell your daughters to enjoy being middle aged leftovers in Manhattan surfing dating apps for the perfect guy... |
Oh my god you got me! There’s literally no choice for a woman other than to revolve her college existence around marrying a man and being single forever! There’s literally no options! The sky is falling too! Please, women have autonomy and the ability to date and find themselves with the right man at an older age. Thinking you can’t find a man after college is…well, its juvenile. |
who were not associated with UVA or even C'ville |
No, you’re not. As a southern woman, I’m mortified. And I’m embarrassed for any men who find this to be the feminine ideal. That being said, I think that schools in All regions have a lot to recommend them. I’m not worried that Harvard or other ivies will have any trouble filling their classes any time soon. And if people find a southern school they prefer, great. I just don’t think I’ve seen lots of numerical evidence that this shift is happening. |
Lmao, there were UVA students at the Charlottesville protest. It doesn’t have to be a school sponsored event for you to be a white supremacist. |
Cite a source that most sorority girls at Southern flagships and selective privates become teachers. You're just an envious striver talking out of your ass. But it's funny how you mock teachers yet omit the fact that the average T20 girlie just segues to a worthless adult day care career; e.g. consultant, fed, and tech and financial sector email job nonsense. |
