I notice big companies and government employees are told to back in a space so they do it at work and where ever they go outside of work. |
There have been tons of studies by fire organizations ans the NHTSA saying that backing in is much safer and should be mandated.
Fire and police are required to back in. Back up cameras were mandated on new vehicles during the Obama administration because statistics showed pedestrians were getting hurt when people were backing out of spaces. As opposed to mandating parking be built better and forced backing in the administration required new car manufacturers to install cameras. |
It’s a Girl Scout rule that you must back into spaces so you can exit faster and safer in an emergency. |
Complete and utter lies and BS. Drivers who back into spaces do so because they’re too dumb to back up out of a space. So they back in instead. They do it because they’re sh*tty drivers it has nothing to do with safety. Think about it. |
Then you can just sit there and wait on me while I back out. You've nothing better to do anyways. |
There you have! The unsupported authority has spoken! It is over! (Is your name Trump perchance?) |
Keep up, dummy. Trump supporters are the ones doing the backing-in. This was established several pages ago. ![]() |
Because they’re selfish. Everyone can wait while they back in so it’s easier for them to pull out. Me me me. Any other explanation is rationalizing selfish behavior, which is rampant in the dmv. |
Huh? I had 2 vehicles that were built in the U.S. during the Obama administration, and neither came with a backup camera. |
Or, everyone can wait while they back out (with their 15 point turns since they have no idea where the front of the car ends). Me me me. Any other explanation is rationalizing selfish behavior, which is rampant in the dmv. |
+1 People don't watch their kids in parking lots, I woudl always rather pull forward on the way out |
What? 15 turns to back out? Backing out is way easier and quicker than backing in. That’s the point. |
No. It really isn't. The first problem is that people don't pull in properly. They cut the corner, don't leave themselves a sufficient turning radius, etc. Thus they end up going backwards and forwards to get the car in. And more often than not, they end up with a car that isn't straight into the space but angled in. That screws the people on both sides up. When you pull forward into a space you have cars on either side of you interfering with your ability to see. People also can't seem to tell where their front end is so they back out too far. Then they are too close to the cars in the row behind them so they need to pull forward and then back up again. Go to any parking lot and you will see people basically stuck between rows of parked cars going forward then backward, often more than once If I back in, I pull past the space and in one smooth move back in. When I leave those two cars are irrelevant as is the row opposing me. That is why backing in is easier and safer. |
I lack the skill or confidence to back in. I will scrape a car on one side or the other. Backing out into a huge space suits my skills. |
What?!?! Have you not been keeping up? If you think you’re a bad driver, you SHOULD be backing into spaces, because only sh!tty drivers back in. Good drivers pull in and then back out. You’re impersonating a good driver. |
