Of course it is good they were seized.

A couple of points.....
Neither LA nor Michigan are nowhere near the border. These drugs made it into our country. You think this is all there is?

The amount that is being seized is a mere fraction of what is getting in undetected.

"In 2022, a record-setting 14,700 pounds of fentanyl shipments was seized by US Customs and Border Protection agents; this year alone, there’s already been 12,500 pounds snagged. But that’s still just a fraction of what enters the US."

the bolded is conjecture that you are basing your opinion on.

It is not conjecture.
Border agents testified to that. And, the record number of fentanyl poisoning supports it.

Then the border agents need to step it up.

It’s almost as if no amount of money or arrests can even dent the drug supply whatsoever.

It is not just about smuggling drugs. Cartels are engaging in human trafficking as well as bringing in a lot of undocumented Chinese workers.

Honest yes/no question: Wouldn’t allowing more legal immigration undercut the ability of cartels to smuggle humans?

Legal immigration is fine, in my opinion.

Now if we could only convince the Republican party and Fox news then we could start solving some problems in this country. Alas.

Republican here.
Legal immigration is fine. And, I am sure you would find most Republicans say the same thing.
But, the people who would come in legally would not be the majority of these migrants. Some might, but most of these are people who cannot support themselves or their families. These are not the people we want coming in legally. Nor do we want the criminals who are coming in.
So, I don't think increasing legal immigration would have an impact on what the cartels do.
Only a change in the US president will cause a change. The one we have seems to be allowing this intentionally. There is no other explanation.

yes. Democrats have abandoned US workers to grovel for more cheap low wage workers. Until they go back to their roots and start supporting US workers first, I will vote someone else.

Well, if you look at today's job numbers and the job numbers since Biden took office, I think there is a pretty strong argument that the democrats are supporting US workers first. And this has been the case since"globalization" took root in the late 1980's.

Facts are important.

Now there is barely any tech job left on the market, and Biden seems to have done nothing other than:

Lower the bar for NIW and EB1 green card.
Encourage laid off aliens to stay at US as long as possible by providing one year EAD.
PP for H4 EAD.
EAD for frivolous and fraudulent asylum claims.
No scrutiny for H or L1 application.
Mass green card issuance from oversea embassies.

facts are indeed important

If you're going to say facts are important, you should post your citations to them so we can judge for ourselves. And ensure you're not just talking out of your a$$ like you probably are.

Dorsn’t that just show how impossible drug interdiction is to begin with? If 2 lbs leads to half a million doses and just one random stop yielded hundreds of pounds of fentanyl then it doesn’t matter how much you stop there will always be plenty that gets through. The drug war has been lost and we need to change strategy from interdiction to harm mitigation.

You are truly clueless.

The reason fentanyl and other drug interdictions have gone up exponentially is because the cartels are taking full advantage of Biden's soft-on-border-enforcement policies.
They make sure to send millions - yes, millions - of migrants across the border - illegally - which pulls border patrol agents from patrolling the border and working at ports of entry in order to process, transport, and care for the millions entering illegally. They have also pulled agents from our northern border. And, who wouldn't have guessed that the northern border is now becoming a crisis.

When border agents are not able to do the jobs they were hired to do - patrol our borders - then they are not there to prevent got-aways from getting away. And, these are the people carrying the illegal drugs and other contraband.

Watch one of the hearings the Republicans are having. You will learn a lot from the testimony of border agents and chiefs.

There has never been a time ever in the history of the USA that drugs have not been plentiful and easy to procure. Every single Republican president and every single R majority in congress has had the exact same problem. You are just trying to partisan points. Anyone serious about the drug issue would not focus so much on immigration since that is not the main driver of drug use. Demand is.

+10000.

Look, unless we have force fields that vaporize things coming in/out of our VAST country with many thousands of miles of borders (not just the southern border) we will always have migrants and illegal items (including drugs) coming across the border. This was true of Republican presidents going back to Reagan, too. And you know it.

Even if you're not interested in facts or are lacking in common sense, let Hollywood give you some history'ish: watch Narcos. And you'll see how it goes and it.will.never.stop.

This is true.
But, the issue has reached a crisis level due to Biden's inability or unwillingness to secure the border. As a result, border agents have been pulled from the field in order to process and transport migrants. They are no longer able to stop the flow of illicit drugs.
That is why we have a record number (over a million) of got-aways who have entered our country under Biden.
And, the reason we have had a record number of fentanyl poisonings since he has been in office.

His border policy (there really isn't a policy per se) is indefensible.
Anyone who *tries* to defend Biden WRT the border is simply making excuses.

+1 goes with what I'm seeing and hearing at work. Tech companies want cheap labor and don't want to hire Americans unless backed into a corner.
