Show me where is says pedophiles don’t take picture in public, and if you’re about to say a team dad can’t ALSO be a sec offender please read your local papers and look at your local sex offender registry.

The thing I find most unlikely about this is that the SAHD’s I know would be the first people to object to someone photographing their kids like this.

I’m a SAHD, and I love some dad into photography takes photos of all the kids at the game and shares them to our private FB page. Once again your sexist premise is wrong!

Your sample size is one.

As are you. Thanks for proving my point.

Reading is fundamental. SAHD’s is plural. None of the (more than one) SAHD’s I know would be fine with a random man taking pictures of their children like this. Insofar as it’s gender based, the fathers of daughters would be even more upset. Even other SAHDs on this thread have said they wouldn’t be good with it.

You’ve asked them all? Sure. Anyone who improperly uses an apostrophe clearly can’t be trusted to tell the truth of all the SAHDs she has asked this question and knows for a fact they would have an issue with a photographer at their kid’s soccer game.

They’re friends, with whom we’ve discussed hard things like keeping our daughters safe from sexual violence and our sons safe from a culture that discourages them from reporting sexual violence so yes, I am comfortable saying a man hanging back from a game with a telephoto lens would disturb them.

Again, no one has issues with a team photographer and OP isn’t one so no need to conflate.

Once again you fail to identify what club teams have photographers at every game. Your ignorance is showing. You also cannot speak to what another person would say anymore they can speak for you. Not shooting from the sidelines to not have their kid looking to them is not hanging back or skulking.

You are also ignorant about sports photography in general so you are using your sexist man hating views to circle around trying to justify your hate.

Google it my friend. Club sports photographers are plentiful.

I was told I couldn’t photograph swim meets for mom when no female I saw taking pictures was asked to put the camera or phone away.

Sitting away from the soccer pitch with a long telephoto was seen as suspect. (I never wanted the kid watching me and not the game).

We are not lepers; we just have a reverse of the “normal” life.

Keep spinning to try to justify your man hating sexist outdated views and keep proving everything the OP said is spot on. You’ll now be ignored, but keep talking into the ether thinking anyone cares to read your hate blatherings.

This is how you show you’re really all such nice, stable guys, and people should absolutely trust you.

If she has a son, I’m sure she is embarrassed by her man hating ways.

I’m a mom of a D1 soccer playing female. Coming up we had a dad who was taking photos of games as my daughter and his were coming up through the ranks. He even invested in classes and better equipment. He would take pictures of his kid and would follow the ball taking pictures of all the kids on the team. These would be uploaded to our private Facebook page.

No parent on the team objected and were thankful for the photos. One of my daughter’s fave gifts was an 8x10 of my daughter and his celebrating after a goal. He learned how to capture to joy and the sorrow that comes from club sports.

Best of all he did it all for free by his love of photography and his love of the game watching the kids develop from ants chasing a sugar cube to real strategy and game play. A photographer for team sports costs money. Why anyone would pay when someone did it for free is beyond me. He also never sat on the sidelines and would be off in a corner of the field depending on the location of the sun and direction of play. When he was actively shooting, he made sure every parent on the team had a photo of their kid in play. It was appreciated.

He also drove girls home from practice as we would take turns driving car pool. There was never an incident. There are far more men like him than some people would have you believe.

In Georgia photographing a minor without consent actually is illegal.

Only for registered sex offenders. There is zero indication the OP is one.

There is legislation about this in several states. I think millennial parents raised with the internet and social media are more protective of their children’s digital privacy.

Only for sex offenders. You just make this up out of thin air? How about reading the link?

No person required to register as a sexual offender pursuant to Code Section 42-1-12 shall intentionally photograph a minor without the consent of the minor's parent or guardian.

Sure, you have no expectation of privacy in public. People are legally allowed to take pictures of anyone.

But, it takes a certain level of social obliviousness to not understand why people don't like having their picture taken by a stranger.

*legislation* not laws. I believe NJ and MD both have or have recently had proposals responding to people photographing their children on the beach.

Once again a poster uses an out of context irrelevant “law” to try to make her point the OP was wrong. Just typical!

And yet thousands of minors are being photographed by moms and dads this week at school holiday parties and pageants!
