It seems so wrong that the police took him into the station for questioning in the middle of the night with no family or friends accompanying him. That poor boy.

It does seem awful, but at the same time he was the only person in the house, and thus either was the killer (in which case they could not leave him free without risking the safety of the rest of his family) or was then only person who might be able to give them immediate information about who killed her and whether the ere might be an ongoing threat to the community. If feel terrible for this poor child, but I don’t know that the police had better alternatives here.

Seems like they could have done without the handcuffs and let him wear shoes.

I am wondering if it was race based.

A handyman who did work at the Juno Street home — and who sources said had a fling with Gaal — is being sought for questioning in the slaying, but cops have not yet publicly identified a person of interest or a suspect in the case.

The process of law enforcement extracting the video from the computer system, putting it in a format suitably for release to news outlets, and then news outlets making it suitable for posting on their websites will introduce distortion into the images, which makes it much harder for lay people to reliably determine whether it’s a teenager vs an adult or a man vs woman because the proportions are not necessarily accurate.

+1. I think that footage is what threw a lot of people off and made them suspect the son. The person does not look big enough to be an adult man. Maybe just a very petite handyman?

I just responded to the above poster agreeing but that makes sense. We may just be looking at a distorted image

2004??? As an infant/toddler ?

The mother went missing 2 years ago when she didn’t come home until the next morning from a “long walk”.
