DP. Ah, the idiot "Jesus toast" poster continues to embarrass herself. Here is the same news story, straight from the ICE website, with some extra special bonus information, just for you. I'm so sorry you are unable to accept actual facts.

"In fiscal year 2022, ERO arrested 46,396 noncitizens with criminal histories. This group had 198,498 associated charges and convictions, including 21,531 assault offenses, 8,164 sex and sexual assault offenses, 5,554 weapons offenses, 1,501 homicide-related offenses, and 1,114 kidnapping offenses."

https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ero-los-angeles-arrests-26-convicted-sexual-predators-local-2-day-operation

I'm a DP, so not the Jesus toast poster. Without a doubt, there are criminals among the group of people who are illegal immigrants. But some of you like to paint it that all illegal immigrants are sex offenders or rapists or murderers etc and that is absolute nonsense. There are a whole hell of a lot of criminals among our legal citizen population. Can you find those same percentages for them? Are you equally worried about them? You are trying to demonize immigrants.

Do I want safe borders? Yes, I do. Do I think people should have to go through a legal process to live in this country. Yes, I do. Do I think all illegal immigrants are the worst sort of people? No, I don't. Most of them are just desperate refugees.

PPs like you who demonize all of them, now you are sacks of excrement. No compassion whatsoever.

Also, nearly to a person, these anti-immigrant posters are all recent immigrants themselves, or the children of recent immigrants. It's less about the tides of people Jesus toast has seen on Fox News (although they and her toast are the ones telling her to be frightened, and she always is), than it her massive class insecurity, the belief she has in her heart that she's not 'American' enough.

But that's your own problem, Jesus toast. You're just as American as I am. It's just that perhaps growing up on stories like the Los Gatos place crash, which happened on land my family used to rent before their own crops failed, I'm a little more aware of how agriculture and food production works in this country. We've always relied on labor, and a lot of its conditions are to this day closer to chattal slavery than you'd like to think.

The problem isn't with thousands of people fleeing north in search of a better future for their families... (And, by the way, most of those people are refugees, not "migrants" or "illegals.") The problem is in your own dimwitted heart, which is frightened because the television told you to be.

As I've said before, my xenophobic great grandparents couldn't keep your family out, thank God. And our nation is richer for it.

DP. Thank you for so beautifully illustrating the insane ramblings of the LWNJ mind. Let us know how many illegal immigrant families you're housing in your home, putting through school, paying the medical bills of.

You seem incredibly obsessed with Fox News, so I take it you don't get your news anywhere else. If you did, you'd know that ALL news sources are reporting on the border crisis, something you'd apparently love for voters to ignore. I give you the NYT:

"To many Republican politicians — and most voters, polls suggest — the porous southern border is an urgent problem. Since President Biden took office, the number of people apprehended at the border (a proxy for flows of illegal immigration) has risen more than fourfold compared with the average level in the 2010s. The data suggest that thousands of people are entering the country illegally each day. This surge has created chaos in parts of southern Texas and Arizona and has strained resources as far away as Chicago, Denver and New York.

Pull factors have also been important. During Biden’s presidential campaign, he spoke in much more welcoming tones than not only Donald Trump but also Barack Obama. “We’re a nation that says, ‘If you want to flee, and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come,’” Biden said during a 2020 campaign debate co-hosted by Univision, which has a large audience in Latin America.

Today, migrants who manage to set foot on U.S. soil can often claim asylum. Some genuinely qualify because they have a credible fear of repression in their home countries. Many others do not qualify, but they have learned that claiming asylum allows them to remain in the U.S. for months, if not years, while their case is heard."

Sorry. But, it is only getting worse.

Why isn't anyone using the word NO to these migrants? Why aren't they seeking "asylum" in Mexico? What makes them feel entitled to enter the U.S.?

Honestly, no other country on earth would be allowing this. Thanks, Biden.

Quit electing do nothing republicans.
Elect moderate democrats if you actually to see this addressed.

Are you joking?? Do nothing Democrats are the ones refusing to move forward with border legislation reforms proposed BY REPUBLICANS, calling it "xenophobic and cruel." Nice twisting of the facts.

"The debate over border security in Congress is ultimately about whether the United States should accept much more immigration than federal law allows.

To many Democratic politicians and immigration activists, the answer is yes. They believe that the U.S. has a humanitarian responsibility to admit millions of migrants who live in countries that are poorer or beset by turmoil. These immigration proponents believe that the proposals in Congress to toughen border security are cruel and xenophobic, needlessly turning away people who are eager to contribute to American society.

Congressional Republicans favor several measures to change this system. One would temporarily shut the border — allowing almost no new asylum claims — if migration flows were to rise above a certain level. Another measure would make it easier for U.S. officials to detain and deport migrants who did not have credible asylum claims. A third would require migrants to have first applied for asylum in countries through which they traveled, like Mexico.

Critics of these ideas have used extreme language to describe them — words like drastic, seismic and severe. But Meissner, the former immigration commissioner, told me that she thought the concerns about the migration surge were “fair” and “legitimate.” The recent rise in undocumented migration has also been drastic, after all."

So, you're claiming that Republicans haven't put forth proposed legislation to tighten border laws? And Democrats aren't sitting on their hands, whining that it's "too cruel"? IOW, you're lying. Got it.

This! As a moderate Dem, I must add that those Dems have to eschew wokeness. For example, Biden is as moderate as they come but a fair amount of wokeness (like Title IX changes) and pushing DEI has infected his presidency. I'd like that to stop.

Biden is intimidated by the woke, "progressive" wing of his party. Which is why I will never again be voting for him.

You are really hung up on that Trans stuff. You live in Montgomery county, right?
Just focus on strengthening the moderate dems.
Seriously MAGAs!! PAY ATTENTION!
The do-nothing-nihilist-attention-whoring-aholes you elect to congress aren’t going to fix this. Trump isn’t going to fix this.
It’s going to take legislation and money.
Elect moderate dems if you want this fixed.

Ah, the nutjob again. Why on earth would we elect "moderate Dems" when said "moderate Dems" have so far done absolutely nothing to address the border? Republicans are the only people putting forth serious legislation - that Democrats are all in a dither about.

So much wrong here.

The vast majority of these people - like 90% - do not qualify for refugee status. They are coming here due to economics, not fear or persecution. They know they will get access to social programs here..... why do you think they don't head to Canada?
And, the vast majority have entered illegally, so you can call them what you want, but they are present illegally.
They are impacting the lives of millions of Americans. Ask any NYer or Chicago resident about the impact they are having. Or, any of the border towns.
There is absolutely nothing "xenophobic" about wanting secure borders and to stop illegal migrants from entering the US.

Some of them are headed to Canada. Honestly, it's a safer bet.

As things are we don't have enough workers to do the crappy jobs your family refuses to do. But instead of encouraging your own kids to become home health care aids or drywall installers, you are just hoping those jobs aren't important.

Half my extended family lives in New York, and it has long been an immigrant haven. I haven't heard any complaints.

And again, you're welcome that we let you people in. Since you don't seem to understand the point of our nation I'm not sure why we did, but oh well.

I think excusing undocumented worker exploitation under the guise of ‘your family won’t do these jobs’ is a failure to see that the two are explicitly linked.

People would do those jobs if they paid an appropriate wage. And people would pay an appropriate wage if they didn’t have a choice. Some might choose to fold instead but the market would adjust just like it has to the cheap labor.

Illegal immigrant populations are contributing to the current widening wealth gap we are experiencing.

That may be true, but the only way to get Dems to act on it, is to send them a message via the election. Which means it will be 2028 when they may actually do something about this issue.

Here's how that goes: Dems propose legislation, Republicans load it up with poison pill amendments and it either fails to get out of committee or gets voted down on the floor. Rinse, repeat.

DP. Exactly what legislation have Democrats proposed regarding strengthening border security?? We'll wait.

Please explain how Biden has any control over this mass of people. He's not leading them here.

Some of you need to get your heads out of your right-wing butts.

Liar. Opening the borders was a major part of the Democrat Presidential debates. Every single Democrat presidential candidate raised their hand on stage in full support of open borders. The entire civilized world watched in horror.

Sad how Democrats latch onto outright lies every time they have anything to say. This is only one example. Shame on you!

+1
This fiction that Democrats on this thread (and elsewhere) are pushing, is beyond pathetic. On day one of his presidency, Biden overturned any Trump migrant protocols that were actually working. This disaster is completely on Biden's shoulders.

Your constant parroting of the same (fake) talking points is making you more foolish with every post. Anyone watching and reading the news - ALL news sources - knows you're spewing lie after lie. It's almost comical at this point. "Moderate" Democrats won't be doing a thing about this, and we all know it.

Nope. No one has called for nor supported "open borders" no matter how much people like you wish it to be true.

Fact is, there are international asylum laws. The US has to comply with them. The US is not equipped to handle the lad because the GOP refuses to help pass legislation to smooth the efforts on the southern border. Result: chaos at the boarder and people like you stay angry. But your anger is misplaced. It should be at the GOP for refusing for over 15 years, to help pass legislation to deal with the problem, all while GOP businessmen, including the past president, take advantage of illegals by hiring them or marrying them.

This fiction you continue to spin is quite entertaining, but mostly pathetic. I guess you think DCUMers are idiots who will just lap up whatever garbage you churn out? Your lines about the GOP, for instance, are easily disproved. They are the *only* ones who have put forth legislation to tighten our border/asylum laws. Democrats refuse to sign and have been doing their level best to intimidate Biden into not going along with it. But then, you know that.

Public opinion polling provides a clue. While Democrats have majorities on their side for many of their political priorities, a recent Wall Street Journal poll indicated that 64% of Americans disapproved of Mr Biden's handling of border security.

And by a 54% to 24% margin, respondents said Donald Trump, not Mr Biden, was "best able" to secure the border.

There are significant privacy issues with eVerify. The GOP bill ignores those issues. Dems writ-large DO support eVerify but not at the expense of privacy concerns.

Absolute bull$hit. According to the liberals here, Biden is a moderate democrat and he is the one that has caused this horrendous crisis. Only one democrat in congress has spoken out from the beginning about this mess - Henry Cuellar. Not one other democrat would admit there was a crisis.

Democrats would do nothing except allocate more money for processing and release. Democrats are the problem here. Vote them out.

You’re angry
But you are also misinformed
If you want change, you’ll need a strengthened moderate democratic caucus.
Republicans aren’t capable of solving this crisis.

DP. The relevant line is bolded. All you're doing is spamming and trolling nonsense that is easily disproved. I agree with the PP. Not one moderate Democrat - except Henry Cuellar - has spoken out. Not one. You have not one leg to stand on here.

And, you bet I'm angry. Joe Biden has totally created this crisis. And, Democrats have done nothing to solve it.
Good news is that I am not the only angry one. Millions of us out there. Fed up with Joe's border crisis.
Nothing I stated is misinformed. Nothing.
Like OP, I am a single issue voter based on Joe's handling of our national security - the border is top of my list.

+ a million
I actually hope the PP does keep trolling with blatant lies. It only makes the case that Democrats have lost the plot when it comes to the border and now they're desperately trying to rewrite history and spin the actual facts.
