Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Again the reminder that Overton was permitted to do this by AD and principal and further empowered by Asst Superintendent, Reid and School Board. At end of this, Overton and his staff will be just as good if not better than are now. FCPS will still be digging out from this mess and costs.

I’m on the fence, I get it, you’re taking an ethical and moral stand here

On the other hand, you play you lose you lose what if you play hayfield and you win

I rather think the southeast VA schools will take hayfield to school in the larger bracket that’s just my thinking

I will say again that if all the games were played this week and hayfield lost the dec 4 hearing won’t happen

If they win it will still happen but it could still end with them continuing to play.

When is the state final, I thought it was always first week of December but now it’ll be a week later because of this round happening a week later correct

So I guess my thought is this. Get to the 12/4 hearing and hayfield has what 1 maybe 2 more games…does anyone really think the court says no no no you can’t play seems unlikely to be honest.

Anyway this is all very entertaining, I guess I’m at the point where I’m a bit more just play the damn games already and settle this stuff on the field. You don’t think those other seven teams and coaches and the down south schools won’t go for blood. I know they will maybe they lose but I don’t think anyone is looking at their team and saying be scared, I’m think they’re all telling their team if we play them they hurt us the first time now let’s go kick their ass, shut them up, and send them packing. Then for your basketball and other sport players when you hit the fields or the mat the track the court you play hayfield this year and you bring the hurt as payback. You let those other hayfield athletes know it’s not personal but it’s about sending a message to the people in charge about what’s right and what’s wrong.

I was already to clap at this until this. Let's hurt those Hayfield lacrosse girls because of what the boys did in football sounds ridiculous and like a child. But I support everything else you're saying.

They play in the weakest district by far. Not even close. In other sports they steamroll until the playoffs and then get absolutely smacked. Happens every year, every sport, and this is the first year it won’t happen to their football team.

A legit smackdown is fine. I was talking about the poster suggesting to take their anger towards Hayfield football on other Hayfield sport teams including female ones. It is crazy for an adult to say.

I do think other coaches of other sports will absolutely keep the foot on the gas vs them, and they should. Keep shooting three’s up 25. Keep stealing bases.

I can't imagine the coach I know whose team will play Hayfield in spring would condone that sort of unsportsmanlike conduct. He has integrity and cares about developing good people through sports. I hope all of the rest of Hayfield's opponents do too.

Do you want your daughter punished because of the actions of a bunch of males who have nothing to do with her? That's insane.

Playing hard is one thing. Stealing bases when you're up by 15 and not bringing in that 3rd string pitcher who normally doesn't get game innings is dumb for the development of your team (not that this would happen when playing against Hayfield diamond sports teams, both of which are strong programs).

Says the supporter of a school with the slogan “Hayfield by 40” Priceless stuff here.

Strawman argument right here. It is not THE SCHOOL'S slogan. It is Overton and his coaches, who adopted it for his football program. Until he "graced" the school with his presence I had never heard it with any other sports program. I still haven't heard it used by any Fall sport other than the football team.
The slogan says “Hayfield…”, not “Overton or Overton’s team by 40”. And the Admin knows this and approves. So the Strawman is alive and well.

Ms Reid is afraid of being called “racist” like a stupid shit.

Not wanting to punish the chain of mainly black student cheaters for a black coach for a black principal for a black assistant superintendent. What a coward.

You are missing the whole point. For fun sake lets say "Let them play" Ok let the players who are legit Hayfield students play i.e. the ones who didn't transfer for the coach. I would be okay with that. but that's not the case. You break the rules and recruit and lie and all the other trash moves you made, you don't get rewarded for that.

Why did I think of Bad News Bears with the Let them Play Narrative

I see both sides/arguments to this Hayfield drama. Hopefully the judge on December 4 will have spent the time reviewing both "sides" before reaching his/her final decision.

Anyone know if Hayfield assistant coach, PJ Seilhamer, still working at Hayfield? He’s the one that posted online after the suspension went out: “Just keep poking the bear. We coming for you all. No f**king mercy.” He attached an image that read: “Hayfield vs. Everybody.”

There is so much disgusting in all this that some bound to get lost. A student would have been suspended or more. What happened to this coach? Anything?

A boycott will only rob their own players of their last game this season.

Exactly, it’s ego and pride. Every coach coaching has it. It’s all a smoke screen. They are not boycotting or forfeiting games. Using the attitude we’re teaching a lesson is also quitting

Not true, it also precludes Hayfield players from having their gaudy highlights advertised on TV and elsewhere.

Only in this region, they would automatically advance so that logic is skewed

So let me get this straight. The majority of coaches and supporters on this board are ok with transfers coming to your school for athletic purposes as long as:
- it's not too many
- it's not for Overton

OR if the team you support did it, you would not be ok with it and would have the exact same stance.

It is not a coincidence that the plaintiffs just happened to hire the same lawyer FCPS had been using against VHSL.

And that in court he kept saying “we” and then having to correcting himself to say FCPS when he remembered he was supposed to be parent counsel

It doesn't have to be a coincidence, but it does not mean FCPS is paying. I can hire a lawyer someone used to fight Toyota when I too am fighting Toyota but it does not mean the other person is playing. You hire someone with experience with your opponent.

My bet is Cafferty doing pro-bono for the 1 case and the 2nd on contingency- both as favor to FCPs.

Maybe the lacrosse players should MAN UP and put on some shoulder pads and a helmet. Then your football team won't finish with a 3-7 record and sob crocodile tears how they are being cheated out of a playoff spot. Ha ha!

Boys lacrosse players DO wear helmets and shoulder pads, dummy. You don't know shit about shit.

Yeah, sure. They run around in their booty shorts carrying strung-up fishing nets. And spend hours in the mirror making sure that their hair flow is perfect.

Like the Freefield football players posting pics and reels of themselves with Chucky dolls and shark and cross symbols like they all bad but also Christlike at the same time.
