Maybe the lacrosse players should MAN UP and put on some shoulder pads and a helmet. Then your football team won't finish with a 3-7 record and sob crocodile tears how they are being cheated out of a playoff spot. Ha ha!

I don't think this is fair. I am not on anyone's side here. I think the whole thing is insane from the Hayfield people and those against but reading this thread the people crying are not from Robinson. It's keyboard warriors crying on "Robinson's behalf" without Robinson asking them to. A parent has come on here serveral times to make this clear. I believe them. All the spewing is coming from others.

This is bigger than Robinson. Sure they got shafted and apparently they are cool with that but this messes with all of playoffs and state. This is bigger picture.

Nothing. These HS principals, coaches, and parents are working off emotion. I don't have a dog in this fight but FCPS can't do anything now. A court has ruled on the injunctuon. If FCPS tries to act they will just be sued too. The time for FCPS to act was earlier. Now they have to wait until Dec. 4 like everyone else.

FCPS could conduct a real investigation, but they won't. The schools could boycott the playoff games.

That also costs money I as a parent prefer they not spend because my girls go to a FCPS school. Football impacts a small subset of the FCPS population who don't want money going towards an investigation. If Fairfax City who called on it wants to fund it then sure, do the investigation.

They are going to be forced to at some point with all the outcry. You can thank them for not doing it when this first was brought to light. It's going to cost more with all the stuff that has come out since this started.

Outcry does not equal standing. I think if the Judge rules on Dec. 4 that Hayfield is out then it's over and FCPS does not have to spend a dime. If the judge rules on Dec. 4 that Hayfield is in then some aggrieved other team can appeal but this is a Hayfield parent case not a FCPS case so again, FCPS does not have to spend a dime. No investigation saves money.

Maybe no standing in court. However I suspect that if VHSL loses the handbook is going to get a substantial update in the near future.

I'm the poster you are responding to. And the handbook should.

Win or lose that book is getting updated so there are no more loopholes for Overtons present and future and slip through.

We won't hide behind coaches, parents, and lawyers, because we're too scared....

Weird flex but ok. This is not about 757. This isn't about playing scared and soft. If you read the letter the coaches sent it explains line for line. But no you just want to post some nonsense about schools no one in this area care about.
Not PP, and agree weird flex. And if you get the vibe of this thread, if comes down to Hayfield vs. 757 on 12/14, most people here hope 757 kicks their cheating a$$.

Most fcps parents have no idea what "757" refers to,
Nor do we care.

Yeah, sure. They run around in their booty shorts carrying strung-up fishing nets. And spend hours in the mirror making sure that their hair flow is perfect.

I’m on the fence, I get it, you’re taking an ethical and moral stand here

On the other hand, you play you lose you lose what if you play hayfield and you win

I rather think the southeast VA schools will take hayfield to school in the larger bracket that’s just my thinking

I will say again that if all the games were played this week and hayfield lost the dec 4 hearing won’t happen

If they win it will still happen but it could still end with them continuing to play.

When is the state final, I thought it was always first week of December but now it’ll be a week later because of this round happening a week later correct

So I guess my thought is this. Get to the 12/4 hearing and hayfield has what 1 maybe 2 more games…does anyone really think the court says no no no you can’t play seems unlikely to be honest.

Anyway this is all very entertaining, I guess I’m at the point where I’m a bit more just play the damn games already and settle this stuff on the field. You don’t think those other seven teams and coaches and the down south schools won’t go for blood. I know they will maybe they lose but I don’t think anyone is looking at their team and saying be scared, I’m think they’re all telling their team if we play them they hurt us the first time now let’s go kick their ass, shut them up, and send them packing. Then for your basketball and other sport players when you hit the fields or the mat the track the court you play hayfield this year and you bring the hurt as payback. You let those other hayfield athletes know it’s not personal but it’s about sending a message to the people in charge about what’s right and what’s wrong.

I was already to clap at this until this. Let's hurt those Hayfield lacrosse girls because of what the boys did in football sounds ridiculous and like a child. But I support everything else you're saying.
You need to realize the “Hayfield” name is stained b/c of this. It extends beyond football, even to academics. That is why the principal must be fired. He/she/they is derelict for not firing Overton at least when the ban came from VHSL.

There is a massive difference between firing an administrator and implying it's OK to play dirty against the Hayfield girls lacrosse team, or any other Hayfield team, because of the actions of others at their school. That's the definition of fighting fire with fire.

The way to deal with unsportsmanlike conduct is to given consequences to the actual offenders and have everyone else recommit to sportsmanship as a principal.
I am not the PP that said “bring the hurt back”, even though I think that is likely metaphorical.

But, I am trying to give you the perspective that the “Hayfield” brand is damaged. I don’t know the Principals’s name, but I know Overton’s. Hayfield is Overton in public’s eyes, unless there is an immediate public repudiation.

Then the public is no better than Overton and his win by 40 or whatever stupid thing he does. No angels here or righteous ones. Seems the community is infected. Seems on brand considering what we're seing in the world.

They play in the weakest district by far. Not even close. In other sports they steamroll until the playoffs and then get absolutely smacked. Happens every year, every sport, and this is the first year it won’t happen to their football team.

A legit smackdown is fine. I was talking about the poster suggesting to take their anger towards Hayfield football on other Hayfield sport teams including female ones. It is crazy for an adult to say.

I do think other coaches of other sports will absolutely keep the foot on the gas vs them, and they should. Keep shooting three’s up 25. Keep stealing bases.

I can't imagine the coach I know whose team will play Hayfield in spring would condone that sort of unsportsmanlike conduct. He has integrity and cares about developing good people through sports. I hope all of the rest of Hayfield's opponents do too.

Do you want your daughter punished because of the actions of a bunch of males who have nothing to do with her? That's insane.

Playing hard is one thing. Stealing bases when you're up by 15 and not bringing in that 3rd string pitcher who normally doesn't get game innings is dumb for the development of your team (not that this would happen when playing against Hayfield diamond sports teams, both of which are strong programs).

Strong programs until regionals. Good job vs the district though!

. It’s an area code. Almost, everyone knowledgeable about Va sports knows this. And if you don’t care, why are wasting time on this thread ? There is also this thing called the Google machine. Ask your kids about it to help you out.

FCPS made the wrong call to think this would lose attention. It just keeps getting more and FCPS feeding it more than anyone with their police calls, press denials and blind support for a single sport at a single school v the bigger picture. What are the odds school board says boundary and MS start time studies are all pushed back because they have to focus on this now? Deflection at best.

Strawman argument right here. It is not THE SCHOOL'S slogan. It is Overton and his coaches, who adopted it for his football program. Until he "graced" the school with his presence I had never heard it with any other sports program. I still haven't heard it used by any Fall sport other than the football team.

It makes sense that Hayfield should be treated as they have treated others. And this will crossover to other sports, especially when you consider multi-sport athletes.

Overton is Hayfield’s standard bearer. Since you have decided to keep him, own it, good and bad.
