Meghan and Prince Harry are moving to the U.S./Canada - OFFICIAL

The more dramatic details that are released to the press (emergency meetings! brothers fighting!), the more I think this is a diversion from Prince Andrew. Or orchestrated for some other reason.

They certainly could control how much their dirty laundry is aired so publicly in real time, but they are letting it fly.

^ and I think it's disgusting that people won't give them privacy to be normal human beings who sometimes have difficult family situations. No wonder Diana was hounded to death by the press - to satiate the nasty busybodies of the world.

Meghan has left the country. That wasn't manufactured to distract from Andrew.

Yeah. The girl ran away. Literally ran away. I mean, ran away! She wouldn't even face the royal family. Hopped on the first plane back out of the UK.

If you read a quote or statement attributed to Wills, for example, or other royal, what are the chances he actually said those words and in a context consistent with the headline jist?

Who knows?

This is different though with all of this public and/or official stuff, including the statements from Buckingham Palace and today's big family meeting. This is the sort of stuff that usually happens in private.

So there’s no reputable source aside for official statements?
No People magazine vs US magazine comparison, for example? Or CNN vs Fox for news?

90% gossip and gossip mags that take their side.

You get the occasional anonymous source in the Times (London Times) or the Daily Telegraph, and those are usually pretty reliable. The Will statement about Harry was reported in the Times, so that suggests some validity. The Times is not a sensationalist paper.

The tabloids in the UK are as official as the other news agencies, wrt royal news. FWIW

This is a very strong argument for a 2nd term for Trump.

See ya in 5 years, Sussexes!

This summarizes Harry and Meghan's future quite well:
----
When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced last week that they were stepping down as ‘senior’ members of the royal family to ‘carve out a progressive new role within [the royal] institution’, plenty of eyebrows were raised at the couple’s suggestion that they would work toward financial independence as well.

After all, how will the pair manage to earn their daily bread without being accused of cashing in on their royal titles, connections and taxpayer-funded privileges? Mr S can’t exactly see Harry heading down to his local job centre, while Meghan mans the nearby drive-thru.

Perhaps though newly discovered footage of Prince Harry from July last year, when the pair attended the premiere of the Lion King in Leicester Square, could provide a clue as to how the royals will make a living. The video is alleged to show Prince Harry on the red carpet asking the CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, to consider using Meghan Markle as a voice-over actor in a future Disney movie:

If he was making a plug for his wife, it’s not exactly a good look for the Duke of Sussex to be using his invitation to the event as a way to earn some extra cash.

But perhaps more worryingly, Mr S remembers that Harry and Meghan were criticised at the time for choosing to attend the glitzy premiere when they had also been invited to a memorial concert, on the same night, for the Royal Marines killed by the IRA in Deal, Kent – especially as Prince Harry is Captain General of the Royal Marines. A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman confirmed in August last year that Harry had been ‘unable to attend the memorial concert’, but did not explain why he opted to spend his time with Hollywood A-listers and celebrities on the red carpet instead.

----

I wish them best of luck.

NP. I never post to this forum, and have not posted or read any of the thread.

I have diagnosed anxiety that I manage with medication. It took a LONG time to find the concotion, but it was intense, I was on disability for it. My blood pressure was 180/200 and the dr. thought I was going to have a stroke right in the office. All the while, there was a smile on my face.

Could you imagine if Meghan had some type of anxiety that developed? Perhaps exxagerated by PostPartum Depression? I am not trying to create any rumor, because I Have no idea. I am simply saying, no one ever knows 100% of the story. Ever.

More than half. She had one family member at her wedding. ONE.

PP 9:22 again. But health is most important. And if this is for her sanity, and theirs - I am in support of it. Of course he will be sensitive given the way his mom Died when she was harassed and constantly criticized. Everyone really cannot handle the spotlight the same, I think this is why a lot of celebrities end up strung out. They take Rx to help, coupled with partying, it can be a dangerous road.

Just another perspective

They are courting the public by airing their dirty laundry. The "leaks" on both sides are intentional to shape public opinion and leverage during negotiations. I don't think this was planned as a diversion, but someone in the palace certainly sees the opportunity in crisis. Unfortunately for M/H, in this sibling rivalry, one of the brothers will be king and yields significantly more power. They need to make a clean break at this point.

"Both Diana and Meghan were the real top person in that family chain, from my view the Royal Family really have a problem in dealing with junior members of the family being so popular."

Princess Diana's ex-protection officer tells @KayBurley that Meghan was left 'isolated' in the royal family, similar to Diana.

"The only time the Queen acknowledged publicly the work that Diana did was actually when the Queen delivered that (forced) message soon after her death in 1997."

Disagree. Right now the Queen is the most loved of the BRF and when she passes, it will be Kate. Meghan is interesting but not the most important royal.

The most important royal is very different than the most popular royal.

It’s undeniable that the most important royal is the queen followed by the line of succession. Just like it’s equally undeniable that the most popular royal is Harry (and has been for years.)

A voice of sanity! So refreshing, thank you!

God- no! I’m a female PhD scientist, former college athlete, business woman and I absolutely love the pomp and circumstance!! The royal weddings are my fave. The palace and the Beefeaters. I can’t imagine going to London and not seeing the Beefeaters.

F@ck you people! It’s a goddamn tradition They are there for our entertainment.

I am a total Anglophile and agree with you. They are a huge part of the British tourist economy. That’s one if the problems with H and M pulling out.

I for one will not miss Harry and Megan, but I do feel sorry for him.

I feel sorry for Will and Kate too. The brothers were close. Now they're not.

I feel bad for them too. Will brought it on himself though. Did he really think Harry wouldn’t be upset about Wills affairs given their history?

So he can't be on the same continent as him anymore? William didn't bring that on Harry. Harry did that on his own (bought a house in LA months ago).

He could. He stayed a year after their affair broke out into the open.

What I don't think he could stand was his brother using his wife as a target for press to shield it.

Harry has put up a lot over the years. All of his ideas and charity initiatives were delayed so they wouldn't 'outshine' the firstborn. He was allowed to be targeted by the tabloids himself as a drunk and fool while often times William was right next to him in those bars and clubs. But this? Especially after he did so much to welcome Kate and issued statements in her defense?

Unbelievable.

I bet Meghan finally feels like she can breathe again. Good for them.

Will can keep doubling down on his affairs, Kate can look the other way, and Harry doesn’t have to sacrifice his family as shield for Will’s bad behavior. Everyone makes their choices, but out of all of them, Harry is the only one behaving honorably.
