Sorry. But, it is only getting worse.

Why isn't anyone using the word NO to these migrants? Why aren't they seeking "asylum" in Mexico? What makes them feel entitled to enter the U.S.?

Honestly, no other country on earth would be allowing this. Thanks, Biden.

Quit electing do nothing republicans.
Elect moderate democrats if you actually to see this addressed.

And again, the GOP has absolutely ZERO interest in immigration reform - it's far more valuable as a political wedge issue. Sure, they propose totally unworkable solutions to give the appearance that they give a crap, but they'll never actually do anything.

That may be true, but the only way to get Dems to act on it, is to send them a message via the election. Which means it will be 2028 when they may actually do something about this issue.

This! As a moderate Dem, I must add that those Dems have to eschew wokeness. For example, Biden is as moderate as they come but a fair amount of wokeness (like Title IX changes) and pushing DEI has infected his presidency. I'd like that to stop.

DP. Ah, the idiot "Jesus toast" poster continues to embarrass herself. Here is the same news story, straight from the ICE website, with some extra special bonus information, just for you. I'm so sorry you are unable to accept actual facts.

"In fiscal year 2022, ERO arrested 46,396 noncitizens with criminal histories. This group had 198,498 associated charges and convictions, including 21,531 assault offenses, 8,164 sex and sexual assault offenses, 5,554 weapons offenses, 1,501 homicide-related offenses, and 1,114 kidnapping offenses."

https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ero-los-angeles-arrests-26-convicted-sexual-predators-local-2-day-operation

I'm a DP, so not the Jesus toast poster. Without a doubt, there are criminals among the group of people who are illegal immigrants. But some of you like to paint it that all illegal immigrants are sex offenders or rapists or murderers etc and that is absolute nonsense. There are a whole hell of a lot of criminals among our legal citizen population. Can you find those same percentages for them? Are you equally worried about them? You are trying to demonize immigrants.

Do I want safe borders? Yes, I do. Do I think people should have to go through a legal process to live in this country. Yes, I do. Do I think all illegal immigrants are the worst sort of people? No, I don't. Most of them are just desperate refugees.

PPs like you who demonize all of them, now you are sacks of excrement. No compassion whatsoever.

Also, nearly to a person, these anti-immigrant posters are all recent immigrants themselves, or the children of recent immigrants. It's less about the tides of people Jesus toast has seen on Fox News (although they and her toast are the ones telling her to be frightened, and she always is), than it her massive class insecurity, the belief she has in her heart that she's not 'American' enough.

But that's your own problem, Jesus toast. You're just as American as I am. It's just that perhaps growing up on stories like the Los Gatos place crash, which happened on land my family used to rent before their own crops failed, I'm a little more aware of how agriculture and food production works in this country. We've always relied on labor, and a lot of its conditions are to this day closer to chattal slavery than you'd like to think.

The problem isn't with thousands of people fleeing north in search of a better future for their families... (And, by the way, most of those people are refugees, not "migrants" or "illegals.") The problem is in your own dimwitted heart, which is frightened because the television told you to be.

As I've said before, my xenophobic great grandparents couldn't keep your family out, thank God. And our nation is richer for it.

So much wrong here.

The vast majority of these people - like 90% - do not qualify for refugee status. They are coming here due to economics, not fear or persecution. They know they will get access to social programs here..... why do you think they don't head to Canada?
And, the vast majority have entered illegally, so you can call them what you want, but they are present illegally.
They are impacting the lives of millions of Americans. Ask any NYer or Chicago resident about the impact they are having. Or, any of the border towns.
There is absolutely nothing "xenophobic" about wanting secure borders and to stop illegal migrants from entering the US.

Some of them are headed to Canada. Honestly, it's a safer bet.

As things are we don't have enough workers to do the crappy jobs your family refuses to do. But instead of encouraging your own kids to become home health care aids or drywall installers, you are just hoping those jobs aren't important.

Half my extended family lives in New York, and it has long been an immigrant haven. I haven't heard any complaints.

And again, you're welcome that we let you people in. Since you don't seem to understand the point of our nation I'm not sure why we did, but oh well.

If any of you were serious about cracking down on illegal immigration you would crack down on the people who hire them. Republicans and Democrats alike have suggested this multiple times over the decades, but since everyone likes their cheap labor, no one ever actually wants reform.

And that's a bipartisan issue.

I've known a lot of undocumented workers (personally not because I employed them), and while I have every sympathy for their predicament, I would understand if we tightened labor restrictions. It's unfortunate that so many industries: restaurants, food prep, home health care, construction, farming, landscaping, etc. rely on a shadow cash economy to function, but since you all eat in restaurants, employ companies that use undocumented workers, don't exclusively butcher your own meat or grow your own produce, your hypocrisy is showing.

And you don't want immigration reform. You want to whine about "open borders," and pretend like you're not just being a racist xenophobe.

I think excusing undocumented worker exploitation under the guise of ‘your family won’t do these jobs’ is a failure to see that the two are explicitly linked.

People would do those jobs if they paid an appropriate wage. And people would pay an appropriate wage if they didn’t have a choice. Some might choose to fold instead but the market would adjust just like it has to the cheap labor.

Illegal immigrant populations are contributing to the current widening wealth gap we are experiencing.

I'm not excusing it. I wrote the post below that one as well where I go into how complicit we all are on this topic. The truth is, much as we like to pretend we're more enlightened than our ancestors, we depend on the same feudalism.

Yes, I am angry that my daughters' schools allow males into their bathrooms, locker rooms, and on their sports teams. I am angry that Biden floated this same policy in the first draft of Title IX revisions. Everyone who doesn't hate women should be angry about this. But I agree with you about the fixes.

Here's how that goes: Dems propose legislation, Republicans load it up with poison pill amendments and it either fails to get out of committee or gets voted down on the floor. Rinse, repeat.
