If you didn't go to/graduate college but make 100k plus what do you do?

My sister is looking to buy a home and asked for some advice and I discovered her income during the process. She makes 110 k a year as a hair dresser!! I knew her salon was swanky and she works a ton of hours but I was thinking she made more like 70k. It really reminded me that college is not the only path to success. Would love to hear similar stories!

I really find this hard to believe. I am in an industry where I know many families who make well above the 5 mil mark and they all need nannies 50 + hours a week and I've never ever heard past 75k. This board seems to have a lot of nannies boasting 100 plus and I just don't find it to be honest. I've worked on both coasts and even in San Fran and NYC mid 70s seems to be the 1 percent.

I went to college but I work with a lot of people who didn't even finish college -- I'm in a political field and most of them are in research.

I'm fascinated - how does this even work? Does he follow the owner and dog 10 feet behind? Does he contract with golf courses or municipalities to clean their streets?

No, most of his clients are people with fences backyards who instead of walking their dogs, jut let the dogs outback to do their business. They are too lazy or don't have time to then go picking up the poop from the yard, so they hire him to do it. He told us that some yards are so bad that if he misses a week, he comes back to a stinky poop-covered yard. One of his clients are our next door neighbors, who have three labs and I can tell by the look of their yard when it's time for him to come again.

My cousin makes a variable income, but it's always around the 150-200K mark.

She is a stylist whose bread and butter is regular clientele but she makes a killing doing weddings and bar mitzvahs in northern New Jersey.

Think of the way the people in Jersey Shore, Jerseylicious, Real Housewives of New Jersey look. Now think about how many services they need to look that way (regardless of your opinion on whether they look good or bad). It's a LOT of maintenance and a lot of money: the hair, the makeup, the eyebrows, the nails, the tan, etc etc. The waxing. Men AND women.
