Sad that they ousted Lisa. She was the best thing that had happened to that club in a long time. Interesting how they have gone from 12 women coaches and staff to now 4 or 5. Good ol' boys are running the show. Not sure how a soccer coach with no busienss experience can run a club vs. someone with a Master's Degree from Georgetown in Sports Management. Not a good look for them. Word from disgruntled coaches say that PPP was received but they aren't using it to restore salaries or return fuloughed employees. No reserves means no refunds and the hurry up to collect fall fees.
I call BS on this. The PPP loan forgiveness require any entity to use at least 75% of the money on payroll (gross pay + health benefits) for 8 weeks. If an entity doesn’t, the loan is not forgiven. The loan is a 1% loan with a 2-year term.

As a parent, the operations at BSC have been horrific. I saw no improvement with Lisa; maybe worse. Given she didn't have a technical role, I expected some improvement. I saw less communications - to the parents. I saw a lot of social media with her - often tone deaf. I also know that our coach, who has a business degree, had to help fix things a lot operationally, basic blocking and tackling type of stuff. All the parents on the team knew that and would have preferred those hours spent on our team - bc he is an extremely good coach.

As a woman leader, I don't want someone to have a job bc of a resume and social media / conferences appearances. I'm truly sorry for anyone who has suffered during this crisis. But let's not paint a picture, that she was a hero. Also, we had one of the female coaches who left who while I wanted to be a good role model for my kid, really set my kid back developmentally and we had a large gap to cross.

Can you please share what you mean by this? When you say set back, do you mean mentally or technically? I’m not trolling, just trying to learn/recognize the signs so I can watch out with our current coach. (Not a BSC parent).

Technically. Played my kid in the same position 99% of the times in U-littles; Would say they would rotate and promise it all season long, but needed my kid in that position so the team stayed competitive. While my kid was getting a lot of playing time, needed to play in other positions to develop. It would have been better to have less playing time and more in different roles. Did not do 1v1. 2v1 drills - at all. Those two areas created a significant gap. There were other issues but those are basic developmental areas.

Then intelligently look it up yourself. There are links in that thread lead you to the information that you seek- if you would take to time to look instead of being a keyboard commando.

For example...

https://www.forbes.com/sites/anthonynitti/2020/04/15/ten-things-we-need-to-know-about-paycheck-protection-program-loan-forgiveness/#12880dea3291

which specifically notes that a company does not have to immediately hire back furloughed employees and the employees do not need to be the same employees.

I found that info through the BS information thread.

Im not defending either side- Im a parent who has lost money also. Just stating facts.

Completely agree with all of this.
I have no idea what she did at BSC, other than go to conferences and try to up her profile. Terrible, terrible leadership over the past few months.
Yes, it is a shame that there are so few female coaches at BSC, but that's another issue entirely.

Looks like she got a really cool trip to Barcelona - not bad for someone with no soccer experience leading one of the oldest soccer clubs in the DMV. Personally she seemed like a nice lady from her tweets... and probably was a good power check on Lt. Col. Colton although she made 1/2 the money he made for being the Exec Dir. That’s where you knew she was just window dressing...
