Zoo Lights Shooting and Violence

Planet rationalization must be a really dangerous place if this is how the "normal kids" act. What happens when they act out?!

They save their outrage for Mormon Boy Scouts.

Can we get a public id of the 19 year old and which part of DC he's from

Why don’t people focus on what causes this violent behavior instead of trying to brush it off?

Yes, we're all aware of how prejudice and unconscious dehumanization has you convinced all young dark-skinned people look dangerous.
All Latino/Hispanic adolescents look to be in their mid-twenties to you and resemble rapists and MS-13 members.
All black adolescents look to be in their mid-twenties to you and resemble violent criminals and thugs.
It's no secret why an officer shot and killed Tamir Rice for waving a toy gun on an empty playground almost immediately after arriving on the scene.
He was black; so the officer's prejudice and unconscious dehumanization of blacks led him to believe that Tamir Rice must have been a 20-something year-old man and not a 12 year-old boy.

dude, they looked like dangerous gangbangers because they were rioting and tearing the store apart ...

They looked like 12 year olds having a fight, like 12 year olds do. You people need to get a grip.

Did you actually see the video? If you owned the FroYo place, would you be happy about what happened?

Have some empathy.

All this talk about empathy for the FroYo patrons as if that's the ultimate tragedy in all this.
Any empathy for the two teens who got shot? Anybody give two shits about their status or has prejudice and dehumanization led you to be "Meh" about their injuries?

Do you have an update on their condition?

Yes, we should. We will have lot of time to discuss while the perpetrators sit in jail.

I'm puzzled why this violent behavior occurs more frequently than usual at the zoo.

Why there?

This is the solution some councilmembers are suggesting. My heart goes out to this man's family.

Hi, I had heard of this terrible murder and thank you for sharing this article. However, I don't see any solution the Council is proposing. Can you clarify? Thank you.

This is sad. It sounds like the police are trying to curtail the amount of shootings. How is the council supporting them?

Some on the council (McDuffie) are suggesting adding more violence interruptors in hot spots. This man was one.

What else are they proposing ? Maybe McDuffie could go forth and do this work himself in all our city's hot spots.

Plus whomever then shot 2 more kids as part of their zoo lights outing was no doubt also a kid or young adult. Planet rationalization must be a really dangerous place if this is how the "normal kids" act. What happens when they act out?!

Failure to discipline teen youth by Dads, Moms, Grandparents, Police etc greatly increases the odds of long term incarceration as an adult.

Let's start at the beginning. Lack of dads in the homes greatly increases the odds of long term incarceration as an adult.

Sure, but when that proverbial ship has sailed, what then?
