How to not “let yourself go”?

So if 5’2 110 is fat, how much is a 5’2 woman supposed to weigh?

Actually I thought the rough gage for normal/lower end of normal BMI was 100 lbs at 5 feet and 5 lbs for every inch above that

I am 5'3 and have always weighed about 140, it is just my build, bone structure, since puberty. I am super skinny at 135 and start to get sickly looking below that, but I only have gone below 135 when seriously ill for a few weeks.

I am currently over that healthy spot for me, well into the 150s, and it's a nightmare. I am working so damn hard to get it off.

People have different bodies.

I don't begrudge the 5'8 118 lb. poster anything, but please don't call a 5'2 120 fat. Bodies are different.

I say this as a fairly shallow person who works out, wears makeup, etc: After thinking about it, I really think the important things are sleep and being happy/vibrant. We all know thin ladies with good hair clothes and makeup who still look like tired old bags. Ina Garten is overweight, wears technically frumpy clothes, and has a boring haircut, but I don’t think anyone would say she’s let herself go. She looks happy and well rested. I think it’s something about the eyes that really makes a difference?

That is a horribly unfit person with zero muscles. Gross!

Maybe for you, but not me.

Why is it ok to say that a skinny woman 'with zero muscles' is gross?
This is me, most of my life. I don't like to exercise, but being lean, if working out muscles show right away. I don't care for them, but, again, it's a taboo to say out loud that being fat is gross, yet for skinny it's fine and people comment on it all the time.

It is not ok. PP is bitter.

Sadly, there are a lot of insecure women on DCUM.

...and it's always "beauty and fashion" where it shows the most.

I do think she let herself go because she’s overweight.

This is a refreshing perspective. I think you are on to something.

+1. I fit that description and run and lift weights all the time. Just finished a 5k race this morning. Got muscles like pow. But I'm very slight.

Ina Garten has been overweight for 50 years. She's chubby (and absolutely adorable) in her wedding photos. So I guess she started "letting herself go" when she was 18?
