CES Decision Letters

How do you know? My DS was accepted but is reluctant to tell others because he knows most did not get in. I don’t want to tell anyone for the same reason. I just assumed I would find out at the open house.

I am curious too -- did the school make some sort of announcement?

Many kids talk to their friends about these.

AES parent here. I think you will find out at Open House. In past years, it only became clear to the general population in June when kids said goodbye to friends with a "See you in Middle School." There are a huge number of very bright, high performing kids at Ashburton, but the vast majority won't get accepted.

NP, but no. Parents talk, kids talk. Normally the outliers tend to gravitate towards each other so it's likely there is some sort of familiarity between the families.

Open house will also answer those questions. When my kid got in, most of the kids had been together since K and the parents addressed the issue carefully and respectfully.

Our school has five third grade classes and probably more than half of the kids applied. I can't imagine how you'd find out every acceptance/rejection. Maybe in a smaller school it would be possible.

Same here, plus our school has a large transient population, and we may not know all the families. Tomorrow we'll find out who got in from DD's class, but we won't know about every other 3rd grader until the Open House... assuming they attend that day and we recognize a parent or child!

I don't think PP's assessment was absolute, but rather what they had heard thus far.

How did you set up the text alerts?

I believe they are referring to Informed Delivery- through USPS. It allows you to see an image of what is coming in the mail that day.

All the kids will know the day of the open house. It will be very obvious who comes back to school mid-day.

Do the "rejection" letters also include test scores?

At DD's CES some schools had 8 kids admitted while other schools had 3. It really varies.

My child was just rejected. National 96% MCPS 76%. Chevy Chase ES. I am so confused by this and reading other people’s scores. What a massive difference. Also he has straight A’s, 99th Map-R, 93 Map-M, iIn-View all high 90s except the teachers forgot to give one subset of the test last year to the entire class, don’t know if that matters? Rocked every math benmark test as well. We love our local school so alls we’ll that ends well I guess.
