CES Decision Letters

Does anyone know when this will be mailed out? I remember in years past specific dates were posted, but I can't seem to find it for this year.

The county's website says they go out on 3/29.

Oh wow. Early.

I guess that means they don't take into account 3rd quarter grades.

Don't think they did in the past either but the date was a week or two later.

My kid’s teacher at a CES mentioned April 10 as a date for the open house for admitted students, which supports the 3/29 mailing date.

Last year they were mailed out April 19 or 20, delivered to many on April 21.

This year it's earlier. Several people have pointed out this is on the MCPS calendar.

I think last year may have been an exception - possibly because they were extending the pilot program county wide. Year before, the deadline to accept was April 18. Five years ago it was even earlier - April 4. Prior to last year I think it was common for the acceptance deadline to be in early-mid April range.

Do they send accepted and wait list letters only, or do they also sent "rejection" letters?

Yes, you’ll get a letter no matter what the decision.

Rejections come first. The others come later.

If I remember correctly the “rejection” letters last year were kind of confusingly worded. Like “your child’s need for acceleration can be met at their current school” or something like that.

All these types of letters are always written in tiny print and the turns of phrase are deliberately confusing.
