| Does anyone know when this will be mailed out? I remember in years past specific dates were posted, but I can't seem to find it for this year. |
| The county's website says they go out on 3/29. |
Oh wow. Early. |
I guess that means they don't take into account 3rd quarter grades. |
Don't think they did in the past either but the date was a week or two later. |
| My kid’s teacher at a CES mentioned April 10 as a date for the open house for admitted students, which supports the 3/29 mailing date. |
| Last year they were mailed out April 19 or 20, delivered to many on April 21. |
This year it's earlier. Several people have pointed out this is on the MCPS calendar. |
I think last year may have been an exception - possibly because they were extending the pilot program county wide. Year before, the deadline to accept was April 18. Five years ago it was even earlier - April 4. Prior to last year I think it was common for the acceptance deadline to be in early-mid April range. |
| Do they send accepted and wait list letters only, or do they also sent "rejection" letters? |
Yes, you’ll get a letter no matter what the decision. |
Rejections come first. The others come later. |
| If I remember correctly the “rejection” letters last year were kind of confusingly worded. Like “your child’s need for acceleration can be met at their current school” or something like that. |
All these types of letters are always written in tiny print and the turns of phrase are deliberately confusing. |
