Liberals: How can you, in good conscience, support illegal immigrants?

Oh stop. This is not about rich vs. poor or fighting over scraps. It's about the sovereignty of a nation and our country having CONTROL over the borders and the rule of law.

And of course, just because something is illegal doesn’t make it immoral, and in fact, sometimes doing what is right requires breaking the law. Did you not learn about the Underground Railroad in school?

While it would be nice if it could be, the US can not be the battered shelter of the world. Our economy can't handle everyone that's in a bad place. So the best solution is to be able to take a look at those who want to enter the US and help those most in need who will simultaneously be of the most benefit to the US. Illegal immigration works against that and supports criminals who take advantage of people in bad situations at the same time. It's not helping the overall problem what so ever. It's making it worse.

DP. So to be clear: You believe that every human being who isn’t happy with the country in which they live should be able to move here and become an American citizen, enjoying all the rights and benefits that status affords?

Because that sounds like a recipe for success!

As a non-immigrant foreigner living here on a work visa, who has had to jump through so many hoops just to keep my work visa, I don't want people to suffer when they've already established themselves here.

It does no good to the US economy, no good to the countries these people come from, to suddenly deport them, and that's before considering the psychological trauma Americans would do to their own selves by dehumanizing other fellow humans do badly. I'm from Europe. We remember what happened when Nazi Germany started seeing some Homo Sapiens as sub-humans. Deaths: 6 million Jews, and even more Soviet civilians (which Americans don't seem to know about).

However, I am ALL for a more logical and self-serving approach to FUTURE immigration. Get rid of the lottery system if you want. Become even more selective in whom you bring in, use family ties more restrictively. Whatever you please.

Just don't ruin lives here and now to make a stupid point.

So you consider the borders of the USA arbitrary and manmade? People worked hard to make this country. I learned about the Underground Railroad through family history.

The border with Mexico is a problem precisely because it is another country with contiguous land yet Mexicans and others seem to consider the border irrelevant. From a daily ebb and flow with TX and CA , it has turned into a tsunami of people flowing in one direction.

Good grief. So glad you're not in charge of the country.

We are talking about an illegal alien with a rap sheet a mile long. He deserved to stay, why?

Just saw a story about a Dreamer in Texas who died while saving others in Houston during Hurricane Harvey. Why is Trump targeting these people to deport?

It is not racist to want to secure the border.
