Possible Rape at Sidwell?

Our lives are entwined, we see each other in the parks in the Theater, in the grocery store... We are all Sidwell and offer our support to the kids involved and their parents, as well as the immediate friends who surround them, who I am sure are shaken by this also. I wish for them this chapter ends soon with the least hurt possible.

Yes, all together as ONE.

Honestly, this sounds like a horrible situation. It could have happened anywhere. So, for now let's not find fault with the school.

The bottom line is that sadly bad things happen at all schools, but it's how the school handles it that matters most for the student body... how the school supports the student body during and after the crisis... how the school implements policies to avert this from ever happening again. Hopefully, Sidwell will handle this horrible situation in a way that makes the community safer & closer than it was before. With that said, it's too early to tell... so out of respect, we should give the school the benefit of the doubt for now. They are going through a lot and need support & privacy to take of their own right now.

it is important to note, consent is not implied just because they had a previous sexual relationship.
No consent = rape
I hope her identity is kept private and they all get proper counseling. Devastating for all indeed.

They should kick both kids out and right soon! Rape, consent or not, fornicating on campus should lead to immediate expulsion. The fact that in the past it had been a consensual relationship makes it worse, not better.

Are you nuts?! Why should the victim be expelled?!

I hope the rapist gets some punishment. This is unadmisible.

This isn't about a school. It's about a rapist. Shows it can happen anywhere. I imagine Sidwell with all its security it must have is about the safest school in the city.

I meant it should not be tolerated (bad translation from Spanish)

How incredible. How can you think someone is going to accusse an ex-boyfriend of rape if it is not true? % of false rape cases reportes to the police? Not even 1%!

+1000 Horrendous!

Anonymous wrote:The accusation is very serious. Rape. It is not consensual sex. This is why this discussion is valid. To suggest that the victim should be expelled from the school is outrageous

Just another reason I prefer same sex-schools for both sexes. Keep dating/sex/competition out of the schools.

But what about the gays?

Juas. Touche!

Accusation is not the same as actuality as we have seen all too often lately. Innocent until proven guilty.

in a sign of how far we have gone down the tubes as a society:

teenagers now have an APP on their iPhones for documenting consent for sex. and then , after they use the APP they take photos , make videos of each other, post them online

they have no conscience about ANY of It.

Uh, really?

Yes really. Sorry if you just don't get it (well...sorry for your children). A same sex environment (especially for boys) is the healthiest environment you can provide your children for learning. Take sex out of the equation -- at least out of the classroom, where the focus should be learning.[/quote

Not according to many of the adult men I know who attended all male high schools and hated the misogynistic, testosterone-fueled vibe. And most women I know who attended single sex schools hated them. Each to his own.

I have two daughters that attend all girls schools and both are very happy. It isn't for everyone but my oldest is in high school and it makes it much easier to learn.

Well aren't the gays a 5% minority and wouldn't they have issues with sex in either same sex or co-ed? The retort is meaningless.
