Malaysia Airlines Flight Goes Missing En Route to China

But ringing instead of going to voicemail would mean the device was not off, right? When your phone dies it typically goes to voicemail. Even if the phone is on but underwater it should be able to be traced by the provider I would guess since they are saying the signal is showing for some passengers being logged into social media called QQ as online. If their devices are still on days later, how is this possible? Wouldn't at least one out of 200+ be able to be traced or located?

How many feet of salt water will a cell phone signal transmit through? What will happen to a battery made of lithium when it gets wet? How many cell towers are out in the middle of the ocean? Do you think the police and phone companies are covering this up?

They botched the photo of the two Iranian men by giving them the same legs... anything is possible with this investigation.

Dianne Rheem just finished her show about this.

The conscensus of the experts was:

-none of the plausible scenarios fit the few facts we have.

This continues to be a mystery.

They did state with confidence that the black boxes will be located.

I feel badly for not having read more - if this crash involved Americans, I know I'd be following this more closely.

That said, what I have read makes me think more and more that this isn't terrorism. I think shows like 24 and homeland make us think there's something significant about the passport thing when there probably isn't. It's likely just a coincidence. People do shady things all the time. It's possible somebody just happened to be doing something shady with a passport or two when a plane happened to crash.

There were Americans on the plane.

And, families, parents, daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, lovers, friends...

How can they / why did they state with confidence the black boxes will be located?

This is just getting stranger ....

After reading this I wonder if catastrophic airplane electrical fail would explain a crash. The pilots above ^^ were desperately trying to steer a plane which was not responding and with info that was not correct. That resulted in a plunge into the sea -- at 300 miles per hour.

Some of the Air France passengers may have survived the initial crash and then drowned later on.

Were there any successful investment bankers on the plane?

Sure they are all in it. Maybe it's just all made up?

This a perfect example of the drawbacks of an Internet driven 24 hour news cycle. Becasue they have to fill 24 hours, they take every little dribble of info and run with it. Bring in panel and "experts" to speak on limited info. Leads to rampant speculation and just plain old blind guesses.

May have. Other reports suggest that everyone died immediately upon impact.

Does anyone have a cell phone whose battery will last more than 3-4 days? That's the timeline we're looking at at this point and my iPhone definitely doesn't last more than 2, with light use.

Many of the non-smart phones (which would more more commonly used in Malaysia/china) last for days... I could go days without charging my little nokia as long as I did not play snake for hours.

The Air France story is horrifying. Could you imagine what it felt like to be a passenger for those last few minutes? And then to survive the crash and drown?

No, it's terrifying to even let my mind go there. And to make it even worse, imagine you're on there with your children....oh God it's so terrible.
